Full Job Description

As a Strategic Procurement Category Manager – Logistics, you will play a key role in defining, enhancing, optimizing, and reimagining our procurement strategies. Your expertise in transportation and distribution, combined with your broad operational perspective, will help drive the innovation we are looking to bring to our organization.

  • Salary scale 006: $: 100 900 to $126 100 (Base salary will be determined based on your academic background, experience, training, and skills related to the position.)

What you’ll be responsible for each day:


  • Supports logistics transformation strategies through expertise in logistics operations, including transportation and warehousing.
  • From a procurement perspective, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Transportation and Logistics categories, representing more than $200 million in spend.
  • Delivers annual cost savings of 3% to 5% within their category through supplier negotiations, supplier changes, specification reformulation/optimization, and competitive bidding processes.
  • In partnership with and in support of the Logistics team, develops long-term sourcing strategies aligned with organizational needs across both Canada and the United States:
    • Defines the optimal sourcing approach based on the type of spend (partnerships, total cost of ownership, outsourcing, etc.).
    • Leads and manages RFP processes, supplier selection, negotiations and contract execution, sourcing and planning strategies, supplier performance management, and related activities.
    • Identifies and recommends projects that deliver cost savings and innovative value-creation opportunities.
    • Develops risk management strategies for the category in collaboration with relevant stakeholders across the organization.
  • Recommends innovative initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, supported by comprehensive business cases demonstrating the impact on revenue growth, EBITDA, and capital expenditures.

 

The individual who will own this role:

 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree is considered an asset).
• Significant experience (5+ years) in logistics operations, including transportation and warehousing.
• Experience in strategic sourcing and category management is considered an asset.
• Strong business acumen.
• Proven leadership and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Excellent analytical capabilities.
• Strong operational expertise combined with a long-term strategic mindset.
