The Opportunity

South Bow is seeking a Strategic Planning Analyst to join its Strategy & Planning team. Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Planning, the role will support the development of strategic analysis and insights for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors, evaluating sector trends, market fundamentals, competitive dynamics, capital allocation alternatives, business scenarios, and key enterprise risks.

The successful candidate will bring analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and a keen interest in the energy sector. They will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across functions. Success in this role requires attention to detail, a commitment to high-quality work, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear written and visual materials for senior audiences. The role offers broad exposure to the business and an opportunity to contribute to impactful strategic planning initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Support the development of corporate-level strategic analysis, frameworks, and reports for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Contribute to the preparation of Board materials for the annual Strategy Session.

  • Assist with strategic scenario analysis and the evaluation of capital allocation alternatives.

  • Conduct market analysis, applying a strategic lens to energy fundamentals, macroeconomic factors, sector trends, capital markets, and competitive dynamics.

  • Support the development of enterprise risk management analysis and presentation materials, including risk evaluations, trend assessments, and strategic risk considerations.

  • Monitor and evaluate corporate performance relative to strategic objectives and KPIs.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization, including Corporate Planning, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, and Business Development to develop integrated strategic analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.

  • 4+ years of experience in strategy, corporate planning, corporate development, business analysis, corporate finance, capital markets, or management consulting.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience translating complex information into written reports and presentations for senior leadership.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across functions.

  • Attention to detail, an ownership mindset, and a commitment to a high-quality work product.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple time-sensitive priorities while maintaining quality.  

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality where required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Energy infrastructure and/or other energy sector experience.

  • Experience supporting strategic planning, corporate planning, energy market fundamentals, or enterprise risk management activities.

  • Experience applying AI tools thoughtfully to enhance workflows and productivity.

  • Progress toward, or interest in pursuing, an MBA, CFA, or CPA.
