About the roleWe're looking for a strategic finance partner to join our growing finance team. You'll work across every function on consolidations, KPI reporting and tracking, systems implementation and strategic projects. This isn't a typical B2B SaaS business, and fal isn't a typical environment. We're deliberately flat, with very few titles or layers, and we move extremely fast while data and processes are still being built.
This role is built for someone who can own problems end to end without a manager. You'll get a problem, not a playbook. You'll be expected to scope it, decide on the approach, get the data, drive it to an answer and bring a recommendation to leadership. We don't have the bandwidth to coach or closely manage this role, so independent judgment is the core of the job.
What you'll do- Planning: Own parts of company-wide financial planning, forecasting and budgeting
- Models: Maintain and extend our bottoms-up revenue model across GTM motions and products, track actuals vs. plan, and surface insights with a point of view on what to do about them
- Systems: Drive FP&A software implementation and other finance systems (ERP, procurement)
- Reporting: Partner with accounting and data on monthly revenue reporting so product- and customer-level breakdowns are accurate and usable
- Visibility: Build dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into key metrics vs. plan and forecast
- Make the data usable: Go into the data (e.g. BigQuery), spot what's wrong, and drive the fix with the right people. We're a lean team without a dedicated analyst, so this is core to the job
- Automate: Use AI tools to automate recurring financial workflows
What we're looking forRequired:
- 6+ years of experience. Ideally investment banking (for rigor and modeling fundamentals) followed by private equity or growth investing, where you owned and pitched deals rather than only executing them. In-house strategic finance at a high-growth startup is a plus
- High agency: a track record of taking full ownership of ambiguous problems and driving them to resolution without direction or oversight
- Independent thinker: you form your own view, make the call and can defend your reasoning. You know the answer, not just all the options
- Deliberate about your career: you can explain the choices you've made and why, and you're curious beyond your job description
- Able to read and troubleshoot data and validate metrics on your own. You don't need to hand-write SQL, but you must be able to read a table, find what's wrong and fix it
- Working knowledge of accounting concepts (billings, deferred revenue, AR, rev rec), and the ability to explain them to non-finance stakeholders
- Strong financial modeling. You can turn complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Mature, low-ego and high-urgency, and excited to work in a fast-changing AI startup
Preferred:
- Experience in AI, cloud or large-scale computing infrastructure
- Experience implementing a modern FP&A tool
- A track record of building or using AI tools to automate financial workflows
How we work (please read)fal is intentionally flat. There are very few titles, and almost everyone reports to a senior leader rather than a layer of managers. People here are excited about the AI space, take real ownership, move fast and don't focus on titles or hierarchy. You'll thrive if a messy, high-autonomy, build-as-you-go environment sounds energizing rather than stressful, and if you'd rather be handed a hard problem than a set of instructions.
Why joinWork with senior leaders on strategic and high-priority problems at one of the fastest-growing companies in AI. High autonomy, real ownership as you earn it, and competitive compensation, equity, and benefits.
