Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

The Role

At Sovos, we're looking for a strategic financial business partner to join our FP&A team and drive financial planning, analysis, and decision-making for our Managed Services and Professional Services organizations. You'll partner closely with senior leadership to shape capacity planning, optimize margins, and influence investment decisions that directly impact how we deliver value to clients. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations, translating complex data into clear insights that guide our services strategy.

More specifically, you will:
  • Partner with Managed Services and Professional Services leadership as their primary financial advisor, building trusted relationships that surface insights, challenge assumptions, and guide resource allocation and delivery investment decisions.
  • Build and maintain workforce capacity models to optimize headcount planning, billable utilization targets, and productivity benchmarks, and own resource demand forecasting in partnership with delivery leadership.
  • Own the end-to-end budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process for the services portfolio, ensuring alignment between capacity, backlog, and financial goals while identifying opportunities for margin improvement.
  • Evaluate project and engagement-level profitability, track gross margin trends by service line, and provide financial frameworks to guide pricing decisions and measure return on delivery investment.
  • Deliver insightful reporting, executive presentations, variance explanations, and data analyses (ARR, services revenue, utilization rates, margin by engagement) to senior management in support of business reviews and performance management, leveraging AI tools where appropriate to improve efficiency and insight quality.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and cross-functional teams to maintain consistency between budgets, forecasts, and reported financials, ensuring data quality and accuracy across key systems.
  • Project manage monthly Operational Review and Board reporting processes, ensuring deadlines are met and the story behind the numbers is clearly communicated.


What You Bring to Sovos
  • Strong financial planning and analysis skills demonstrated through prior work or education (Bachelor's in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or equivalent experience preferred; MBA a plus).
  • You have financial planning and analysis experience, ideally in Private Equity-backed SaaS or technology services companies with a mix of recurring and project-based revenue.
  • Understanding of SaaS and services metrics (MRR, ARR, GRR, billable utilization, services gross margin, backlog), forecasting, and financial modeling best practices - we'll assess this through a work sample and conversation.
  • Experience with services P&L management, project cost accounting, or professional services automation (PSA) tools is strongly preferred, as is experience collaborating with international delivery teams.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, scenario analysis, pivot tables) and hands-on experience with tools like Adaptive, NetSuite, Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms. Comfort with AI-assisted workflows is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, particularly around revenue recognition (ASC 606) and project-based accounting, combined with You approach ambiguous problems methodically, structure analyses to uncover root causes, and translate findings into clear recommendations..
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex analyses into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire.
