Strategic Business Planning & External Engagement

Description -

The Principal, Strategic Business Planning & External Engagement is a senior individual contributor responsible for enabling operational excellence across strategic planning, executive governance processes, and internal/external engagement activities. The role partners closely with executive leadership, the Business Office, Marketing, Finance, and corporate functions to drive alignment, coordination, reporting rigor, and execution of key business priorities. This position complements and supports Business Office leadership by improving operational effectiveness, visibility, and cross-functional integration across strategic initiatives

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning & Executive Governance (High Priority)
  • Partner with the Business Office Lead to support execution of the enterprise business planning cadence and strategic operating rhythms.
  • Coordinate inputs, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables for executive reviews and strategic governance forums.
  • Support development and publication of ELT scorecards by consolidating data, tracking dependencies, and ensuring executive-ready materials.
  • Facilitate preparation of:
    • Quarterly Portfolio Reviews
    • Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
    • Quarterly Strategic Initiative Reviews
  • Assist in development and coordination of Quarterly L1 executive memos, including synthesis of cross-functional inputs, risks, decisions, and forward-looking priorities.
  • Drive follow-through on actions, decisions, and commitments resulting from executive reviews and strategic forums.
  • Partner with functional leaders, analytics teams, and finance stakeholders to improve consistency, transparency, and operational rigor of executive reporting.
  • Identify gaps, interdependencies, and execution risks impacting strategic objectives and elevate recommendations to leadership.
  • Conduct market, competitive, customer, and business analysis to support strategic planning activities and leadership decision making.
  • Support evaluation of strategic initiatives, growth opportunities, and business scenarios through structured analysis and operational tracking.
  • Monitor progress of strategic investment initiatives and provide visibility to leadership on performance, risks, and milestones.

Events & Executive Content (Medium Priority)
  • Lead content planning, preparation, and alignment for executive-facing and external events, including:
    • Amplify
    • Imagine
    • Customer briefings
    • Market, Channel, and Partner events
    • Select media interview preparation
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Marketing, Customer & Workplace Communications (CWC), and Corporate Organizations (CO) to ensure messaging consistency and executive readiness.
  • Ensuring content reflects current business priorities, strategic narrative, and leadership perspective.

External Presence & Thought Leadership (Selective / High-Impact)
  • Drive and manage a LinkedIn social presence strategy in partnership with Corporate Communications.
  • Support ad hoc media interviews by coordinating briefing materials, talking points, and follow-up actions.
  • Act as a trusted partner to Corporate Comms teams (including LinkedIn management support) to maintain credibility, consistency, and professionalism in external messaging.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
  • Serve as an operational partner to executive leadership and the Business Office, enabling effective execution, coordination, and communication across strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with:
    • Marketing teams
    • Corporate & Workplace Communications
    • Corporate Office partners
    • Analytics and finance stakeholders
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment across strategy, planning, execution, and external engagement activities


Skills & Experience Required
  • 10+ years of experience in business planning, PMO, strategy, chief-of-staff, or executive operations roles
  • Proven experience supporting ELT-level governance, scorecards, and executive reviews
  • Strong executive communication skills-written, visual, and verbal
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, concise executive narratives
  • High comfort operating in ambiguity with minimal direction
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional work without direct authority
  • Strong judgment managing sensitive information and external-facing content

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $154,400.00 - 227,750.00 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
