Position Purpose
The Store Director is responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction for store operations to ensure exceptional customer service, sales growth, profitability, operational excellence, and employee development. This position leads all store departments, develops high-performing leadership teams, drives execution of company initiatives, and creates a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement while delivering outstanding results for customers and the organization.
Key Responsibilities Store Leadership & Strategic Direction
  • Lead all aspects of store operations and provide direction to department managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Establish and communicate store goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Drive execution of company strategies, operational programs, and business initiatives.
  • Foster a culture focused on customer service, accountability, teamwork, and results.
  • Serve as the primary leader responsible for store performance and operational success.
  • Promote company values, diversity, inclusion, and ethical business practices.
Customer Experience
  • Champion a customer-first culture throughout the store.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service in every department and interaction.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and implement improvement strategies.

Sales & Merchandising
  • Lead efforts to achieve or exceed store sales, profit, and market share goals.
  • Ensure company merchandising standards, promotional programs, and seasonal events are executed successfully.
  • Partner with department leaders to maximize sales opportunities and customer engagement.
  • Monitor sales trends and business results to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure product availability, pricing accuracy, and presentation standards are maintained across all departments.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in merchandising and store presentation.
Financial Accountability
  • Maintain responsibility for overall store profitability and financial performance.
  • Manage labor, operating expenses, shrink, and controllable costs.
  • Analyze financial reports, performance metrics, and operational data to drive results.
  • Develop and execute action plans that improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure departments effectively manage budgets, labor plans, and inventory investments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and maximize return on resources.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing leadership team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing performance management to department leaders.
  • Build organizational capability through succession planning and talent development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and leadership development discussions.
  • Create a positive workplace culture that supports engagement, recognition, and accountability.
  • Ensure associates receive training and development opportunities that promote career growth.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure compliance with all company operating procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Monitor store operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and execution excellence.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and service levels.
  • Oversee inventory management, shrink reduction, and asset protection efforts.
  • Ensure all store equipment, facilities, and physical assets are maintained properly.
  • Partner with corporate and district leadership to achieve operational objectives.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, workplace safety, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and associates.
  • Lead store safety programs and accident prevention efforts.
  • Ensure incidents, claims, and compliance issues are properly addressed and documented.
  • Support emergency preparedness, business continuity, and security procedures.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and risk awareness throughout the store.
Community & Business Leadership
  • Represent the store and company professionally within the community.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, community leaders, vendors, and business partners.
  • Support community outreach, charitable initiatives, and local events.
  • Promote the company's reputation through ethical leadership and community involvement.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and servant leadership.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred.
  • Extensive retail management experience required.
  • Multi-department grocery retail leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in driving sales, profitability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze business performance and implement strategic action plans.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, labor management, scheduling, and operational systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of merchandise up to company standards.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and stretching.
  • Ability to work in multiple store environments, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
  • Ability to safely operate store equipment and assist departments when necessary.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
