WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Statistician, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• Serving as the senior statistical advisor on complex clinical and preclinical investigational product development programs.
• Develop and critically review Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs), datasets, tables, listings, figures, and study endpoints to ensure scientific rigor and regulatory compliance.
• Interpreting study findings and providing statistical justification for operational and regulatory decision-making.
• Advising leadership on study design, data interpretation, risk assessment, and emerging statistical approaches to support strategic program objectives and investigational product development.
• Providing technical leadership, consultation, and guidance to scientists, program managers, and senior leadership on statistical methodologies and study design.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications: You must possess one of the items listed below (A or B):

A. Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

B. Combination of education and experience courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

• Providing expert statistical consultation and technical leadership on complex health clinical and preclinical studies and projects to advance investigational product development;
• Designing, developing, and reviewing clinical trial protocols and statistical analysis plans, including dataset specifications and outputs, ensuring statistical validity and compliance with regulatory requirements;
• Identifying data and reporting issues, conducting and validating analyses, and presenting findings through reports and professional publications; and
• Developing and evaluating statistical research approaches for clinical and preclinical investigational product development programs, advising leadership on study design and data interpretation, and resolving analytic data issues to support operational decision-making.
