Job Title: Station Manager
Job Location: Chicago, Illinois
Purpose Lead the Chicago Station to achieve sustainable growth, operational excellence, and outstanding customer experience by delivering strong financial performance, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring seamless execution across all areas of the business.
Accountable for:
• Driving the station's P&L performance and overall business results.
• Leading and developing a team of 300+ employees across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, Warehousing, Customer Service, and Billing operations.
• Growing both local and network business through strong customer relationships and close collaboration with the Air Freight product organization and DGF global network partners.
• Creating an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing culture that fosters employee development, retention, and positive labor relations.
• Ensuring operational excellence through best-in-class service delivery, customer satisfaction, compliance, quality, and productivity.
• Optimizing organizational effectiveness through strong resource planning, cross-functional collaboration, and partnership with the Global Service Center (GSC).
• Managing costs, vendors, and strategic partners to drive efficiency, profitability, and long-term business success.
Key Responsibilities • Deliver the station's financial objectives and maintain full accountability for P&L performance, profitability, and sustainable business growth.
• Lead and develop a high-performing, engaged, and safety-focused workforce while fostering a positive employee and labor relations environment.
• Drive customer satisfaction and retention through Service First principles, operational excellence, and continuous process improvement.
• Provide leadership and direction across all freight forwarding operations, including Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, Warehousing, Customer Service, and Billing.
• Establish clear performance expectations, monitor results, and manage performance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with customers, suppliers, industry partners, government agencies, and labor representatives.
• Partner with Field Sales and Key Account teams to grow local and network business opportunities and strengthen customer relationships.
• Analyze operational and financial performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions to achieve business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
• Determine and execute station operational strategies through capacity planning, resource allocation, productivity improvements, and cost management.
• Oversee all station administration, workforce planning, and hiring decisions to ensure organizational effectiveness.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with local union leadership to support a collaborative and productive working environment.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Extensive leadership experience within freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
• Strong understanding of Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, Warehousing, and end-to-end freight forwarding operations.
• Proven track record of leading large teams and delivering strong business, operational, and financial results.
• Demonstrated experience managing P&L performance and driving profitable growth.
• Strong labor relations experience, including working in unionized environments.
• Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead change, drive accountability, and execute strategic initiatives.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.
Pay Range: $200,000.00 - $248,000.00 + bonuses + executive share plans (where applicable)
