Full Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them.
  • 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working on technology policy issues at state and local levels in Texas.
  • Experience in state government, or leading policy or public affairs work for corporations or third-party organizations, (e.g., being a lobbyist or running campaigns).
  • Experience with staffing and managing executives, with excellent leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to integrate public policy with business strategy and corporate development.
  • Familiarity with Internet/technology policy with passion in keeping the Internet open and free.


About the job
In this role you will, develop regional policy objectives and execute proactive, campaign-style legislative strategies in Texas to establish a positive regulatory environment for Google's products, services, and technical infrastructure. You will partner with tech industry associations, trade groups, non-profits, and grassroots coalitions to build broad-based, external support for Google's policy positions on critical issues like AI, data privacy, youth safety, and energy and proactively monitor and analyze Texas state and local legislative and regulatory proposals. You will also collaborate with product teams to assess business impacts and help draft Google's official positions and advocacy materials on key issues like AI, privacy, and infrastructure and educate Texas state legislators, municipal officials, and regulatory staff on Google's local economic impact, products, and policy positions, acting as a reliable, direct representative in legislative hearings and educational briefingsIndividual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

  • Serve as the primary liaison to Governor's offices, state legislatures, and regulatory bodies where you will be developing strategies to deepen relationships with elected officials and other stakeholders.
  • Build coalitions with trade associations, industry partners, and non-profits to advance shared policy goals. Manage the political giving portfolio to align with strategic objectives.
  • Develop community engagement initiatives that ensure Google continues to act as a responsive and positive corporate citizen within the region.
