Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Stakeholder Communications, the incumbent partners with departments and stakeholders across the Faculty as a trusted communications and marketing advisor, helping clients identify creative and effective ways to achieve their goals. This involves leveraging market research and best practices for Faculty and University communication to develop, produce and deploy a range of strategies and tactics through multiple channels from print media to digital content. You will bring the skills to lead communications and marketing campaigns and write advertising, marketing and communication copy that drives engagement from key audiences. You thrive as a key contributor and producer on a highly collaborative team and are adept at handling multiple projects on competing deadlines.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Planning and developing an integrated multi-channel communications strategy independently to support strategic objectives and elevate U of T Engineering's profile and brand both internally and externally
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Developing and implementing digital communication campaigns and programs that support strategic objectives
  • Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives
  • Overseeing and implementing website enhancement activities to support project/program goals and objectives
  • Drafting and editing content for print and/or online communications channels
  • Developing and implementing social media programs and initiatives independently
  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, or public relations or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent and relevant experience in developing and implementing multi-channel strategies/initiatives for communications and marketing.
  • Proven experience developing web content and experience with social media (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) in a professional capacity to engage audiences.
  • Relevant experience advising stakeholders/clients including leaders on effective strategies for communications and marketing that aligns with organizational branding.
  • Must demonstrate project management skills and have proven experience executing a variety of creative, persuasive, cost-effective marketing and communication projects within deadlines and on budget.
  • Analyzing digital and marketing performance metrics, developing recommendations, and using data-driven insights to inform communications strategies and decision-making.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Technical fluency in Office365 applications, WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud products, Google Analytics and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Excellent writing, proof reading and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service using remarkable interpersonal, tact and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to organize, multi-task, manage conflicting priorities and meet all deadlines while quickly adapting with high flexibility, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of AODA standards.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), research and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team using effective collaboration, relationship building, persuasion and problem-solving skills.
  • Driven by strategy and results, the incumbent must demonstrate creativity, strong conceptional skills, excellent judgement, professionalism and the proven ability to take initiative.
