Staff Systems Engineer

Location: Onsite in Bradenton, FL

Base Salary Rate: $134,602 - $158, 355 per year

About this role

This position is a Staff Engineer, Systems for the KGS Edwards brand of commercial fire product. Supporting efforts associated with Embedded and Software products. Individual must have the ability to read and interpret high-level product requirements. Individual should offer design and implementation approaches based on those requirements and drive system and sub-system requirements. Individual will identify, create, and execute product test cases throughout the development phases of a project or product. The candidate will facilitate a discussion with the cross-functional team members to provide a detailed safety design failure mode analysis of the entire system. The candidate is expected to have a background in product life cycle, product designs, troubleshooting and will be involved in all aspects of the product development process (concept, design, verification, validation, and production). Candidate must have an ability to work on multiple projects and functions as part of a global team environment.

Key Responsibilities
    • Defining and representing the fundamental structure of systems, system components, their relationships, and interfaces and the interface between the system and its external environment.
    • Defining safety critical systems' requirements and documenting the requirements with the aid of requirements management tools.
    • Aligning the requirements decomposition activities with the system architecture, and support architecture analysis and trades.
    • Refining requirements based on VoC sessions, quality incident tickets, and technology improvements.
    • Defining system boundaries, inputs/outputs, data flows, and capturing processing needs.
    • Creating and Reviewing system Verification/Validation tests to ensure full requirements coverage.
    • Conducting Robust Design reviews including DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and product safety reviews.
    • Managing multiple engineering projects or processes across engineering disciplines.
    • Performing difficult or complex engineering activities, and creates standard work for common procedures.
    • Creating and implementing common procedures and standards for routine work across the organization.
    • Managing system engineering deliverables on large scale, complex, or significant engineering projects, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.
    • Utilizes knowledge of emerging technologies, participates in conducting technology assessments and conceptualization emerging technology strategy.
    • Participates in assessment of current tools & technologies and makes recommendations for improvement
    • Reviews and mentors others' technical reports, publications, and presentations.
    • Able to succinctly document and present business case for projects.
    • Submits articles to technical publications, volunteers to speak at conferences.
    • Supports customer documentation.
    • Monitors and evaluates industry initiatives, changes in policy, technology and other trends that may have business impact.
    • Creates leading edge solutions which combine advanced knowledge of several business theories and disciplines.
    • Takes ownership of overall quality output of the business

Basic Qualifications
    • University degree & 7 years
      or
    • Advanced degree & 5 years

Preferred Qualifications
    • ASEP/CSEP certification would be an added advantage.
    • Knowledgeable in System Architecture, UML, SysML, DFMEA, Pugh Matrix, Requirements Management, QFDs and related tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, Jira, Confluence, and Visio
    • Programming skills on C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or any development language is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements.
