Title: Staff Software Engineer - 121194

Your Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer for JD ISGGuidance and Autonomy located in Cary, NC, you will provide technical leadership for the development of complex product designs, product changes, and software solutions that ensure cost, reliability, schedule, and performance objectives are achieved. You will be recognized as a technical expert across the division and will partner with teams in both the embedded and digital domains. Additionally, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership to design, develop, integrate, and validate complex software solutions for advanced guidance and autonomy features
  • Lead development of turf guidance designs to ensure cost, reliability, schedule, and performance integrity.
  • Design innovative engineering solutions and associated validation approaches that meet functional, performance, and quality objectives.
  • Research, define, and execute plans to close existing gaps in current guidance technology.
  • Manage technical knowledge sharing, mentor team members, and contribute to the growth of organizational capability within the discipline.
  • Support and lead multiple technical efforts or projects, providing clear communication of progress, risks, and tradeoffs to senior leaders and partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical work with minimal guidance and make sound engineering decisions
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and build credibility across software, systems, test, and product teams
  • Strong ability to define technical direction, drive execution, and balance quality, cost, schedule, and performance considerations


What Makes You Stand Out

  • Deep experience with robotics, guidance, autonomy, or path planning technologies
  • Experience architecting software on Linux, QT, and related UI or platform frameworks
  • Knowledge of production turf practices, machines, and customer workflows
  • Experience with model-based design tools such as Matlab/Simulink and AI generative code technology.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional technical initiatives


Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Ag, Science or Technology related discipline
