The Patel lab is seeking an experienced laboratory research technician to support its main mission of investigating the role of brain clearance pathways in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in animal models. Under the general supervision of the PI, the Staff Research Associate will conduct studies in mouse models and cell culture systems investigating the role of meningeal lymphatics and other related brain clearance pathways in neurodegeneration. Technical support is needed to develop and maintain complex transgenic mouse lines and to perform experiments involving brain sectioning, histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and data analysis. Additional experience with rodent survival surgeries, cell culture, and image analysis platforms (such as ImageJ) is preferred. Familiarity with high complexity transcriptomic datasets is also preferred. A bachelor's degree and some lab experience are required.

Required: - BS or BA in biological science or related experience
- 2+ years of Previous work in neuroscience or brain research fields
- 2+ years of previous experience with mouse or rat survival surgeries and/or behavioral testing
- Ability to learn new software or laboratory techniques as needed
- Skill in reading and interpreting scientific journal articles in order to stay current in laboratory techniques and protocols
- Excellent verbal and written fluency in English
- Ability to cut and process tissue for histological and immunohistochemical stains using cryostat or other similar device (e.g. microtome)
- Familiarity with modern molecular biology tools and techniques, including handling viral vectors and other compounds
- Familiarity with microscopy techniques (epifluorescence, confocal)
- Ability to create and maintain records accurately.
