STAFF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ABOUT THIS ROLELVT is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the team at our American Fork HQ and Spanish Fork MFG facilities. Here you will work on core development for AI/ML enabled security solutions including but not limited to optical pan/tilt cameras, batteries, solar power, electronics packaging, mechanisms, sensors and payloads. The role requires high ownership and frequent collaboration with other core disciplines. The ideal candidate would be practical, hands-on and a self starter. High growth potential is possible as well as additional leadership opportunities present themselves.
This role is based in-office out of our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah, although some days will need to be spent with the team and inhouse manufacturing based in Spanish Fork. There will also be approximately 5-10% travel required to our partners overseas facilities.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- Concept to Production: Lead complex mechanical and electromechanical product development programs through the entire lifecycle.
- Design Ownership: Collaborate with Product Management to define product direction by performing thorough design trade-off studies.
- Project Management: Manage hardware timelines and actively interface with Project Management and external manufacturing and design partners to meet launch goals.
- Rapid Innovation: Execute rapid concept evaluations for new mechanical and electromechanical products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Management, Program Management, Electrical Engineering, Firmware, and Manufacturing teams to ensure efficient development of quality products.
- Design Integrity: Lead rigorous design reviews, identify technical risks, and establish/execute effective mitigation plans throughout development phases.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE- Experience: 10+ years of professional experience designing mechanical and electromechanical products (e.g., IoT devices, industrial or medical equipment, drones, camera systems, consumer electronics)
- Education: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- CAD & Data Management: Strong CAD skills, with a preference for PTC Creo and Windchill.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Deep understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), specifically for sheet metal, welding, and injection molding.
