ABOUT THIS ROLEAs a Hardware Technician on the Sensor Integration team, you will provide critical technical support for the development and validation of advanced hardware solutions. Operating within the Hardware Department, this position is responsible for the mechanical integration and hardware-level testing of different sensor types, ensuring all devices are functionally mounted and optimized for deployment. Primary responsibilities include physical assembly, CAD modeling for sensor mounting components, and the technical evaluation of various sensor systems, including PTZ cameras, radar, thermal detection, and sightline (field of view) analysis.
You will collaborate closely with the engineering teams to prototype new integration methods, ensuring all hardware meets established standards for reliability and field performance. In addition to execution, you will contribute to the development of standardized assembly and testing protocols, assisting in the documentation and refinement of the LVT processes.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- CAD Modeling & Design: Use CAD software to design and iterate on custom brackets, mounts, and housings for various sensor types.
- Hands-on Prototyping: Build and assemble sensor payloads, ensuring all physical components, cables, and connectors are integrated correctly.
- Validation Testing: Execute hands-on testing protocols to ensure sensors meet performance standards under various conditions.
- Documentation: Maintain clear logs of test results, assembly procedures, and hardware revisions to help the team scale.
- Sustaining Support: Assist in troubleshooting hardware failures and identifying root causes for sensor integration issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside the Engineering and Hardware PQE teams to move products through the development stage.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE- CAD Proficiency (Required): Demonstrated experience using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) to create 3D models and technical drawings.
- Technical Aptitude: A strong mechanical mindset with experience using hand tools, basic electronics, and assembly techniques.
- Methodical Approach: High attention to detail when it comes to testing and documenting your work.
- Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical issues to teammates and collaborate on solutions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or technical certification in a relevant field is highly regarded. Candidates with equivalent practical experience and a proven track record of executing technical hardware tasks are also strongly encouraged to apply.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Sensor & Hardware Integration: Proven experience with the physical installation and hardware-level configuration of IP cameras and other sensor types. Experience with creating and escalating projects through an ECO process.
- Security Industry Background: Professional experience as a security systems integrator or technician is preferred, specifically regarding the mounting, wiring, and hardware validation of surveillance and physical security infrastructure.
- Prototyping Skills: Experience with 3D printing and CAD software. Experience using WindChill or other PLM tools.
- Problem Solver: A track record of "hacking" solutions to physical hardware challenges.
