Job Title/Position: Staff Mechanical Engineer

The Staff Mechanical Engineer is a highly skilled engineering professional who designs and directs large-scale mechanical engineering projects. This person acts as a hands-on Technical Lead to ensure one or several engineering projects are completed successfully in the required time frame while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role works with a cross-functional team to design and develop of next generation industrial safety products and solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for detailed mechanical design throughout the new product development lifecycle. This position may also be involved in the sustaining, VAVE, and quality improvement of ISC legacy products. This position is expected to work closely with various groups to fully assure a properly designed product is released to production.

The duties may include but are not limited to:

Define and execute system level specifications and requirements

Design and analyze hardware to comply with agency approvals (UL, CSA, ATEX, IEC, MSHA, etc.)

Champion mechanical designs for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability

Drive innovation in mechanical designs that meet or exceed performance and quality goals

Create, update, and maintain technical documentations and engineering drawings

Follow, enforce, and mature the corporate engineering processes

Mentor and provide technical guidance to other mechanical engineers/designers

Troubleshoot new or legacy products with a data-driven approach

Resolve complex product issues through detailed analysis, rapid experimentations, test planning, and novel ideas

Travel to customer locations to collect Voice of Customer and visit suppliers to go to Gemba (travel less than 10%)

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Non-Negotiable):

BSME from an accredited engineering college or university

Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical designs

Experience with design best practices for plastic injection molding, machining, and sheet metal forming

Knowledge of engineering properties of plastics, metals, and other materials.

Experience with Creo, or similar CAD software, as well as demonstrated ability to produce high-quality engineering models and drawings using parametric modeling

Experience in electronics packaging design and manufacturing.

Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing methods used in the electronics or similar industry.

Knowledge of requirements for designing and manufacturing in regulated industries.

Proficiency in basic computer software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team

Ability to commit to and work under deadlines

Demonstrated analytical skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated understanding of Stage-Gate development process.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED (Negotiable):

MSME from an accredited engineering college or university

Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) - ideally using Moldflow or ANSYS Mechanical

Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Windchill PLM, Oracle EBS, and JIRA

Experience in statistical analysis

Experience in project management

Experience in leading and delegating responsibilities to technical team members on NPD projects
