Full Job Description
staff engineer

Department: Customer Success

Employment Type: Flexible

Location: US

Reporting To: Kovalchuk Mykola

Compensation: $144,793 - $179,290 / year

Description

Care Lumen | Remote (US Only) / Remote (Global)

Employment Type: Full-time Employee / Part-time Employee / Contractor

Salary Range: $144,793 to $179,290

About the Role
Insert 2-4 paragraphs describing the role's purpose, impact on the organization, who they'll report to, and key team dynamics. Use an engaging, conversational tone that reflects Care Lumen's culture

What You'll Do
  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture for the platform as we stabilize it and move it to the cloud.
  • Harden the existing on-premise deployment - improve fault detection and observability for video-capture hardware and streaming (RTSP) feeds, feeding an OpenTelemetry-based observability stack (SigNoz).
  • Design and lead the migration from on-premise NFS storage to a hosted AWS environment (EKS/S3), preserving the existing video processing and anonymization pipeline and defining a clean on-prem/cloud boundary.
  • Produce the cloud architecture design and data-migration plan, and the infrastructure-as-code foundation (Terraform, Kubernetes) behind it.
  • Set architectural direction the delivery team executes against, and document decisions well enough that they don't need you in every one.
  • Work directly with the client's engineering leadership as the technical point of authority; surface risk and technical debt early and reshape the plan collaboratively when needed.

What's Required
  • Proven AWS solution architecture: EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, networking.
  • Hands-on experience migrating production on-premise workloads to the cloud.
  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, and production Kubernetes / container orchestration, Ansible, Swarm.
  • Observability architecture: OpenTelemetry pipelines and metrics/traces/logs design (SigNoz, or equivalent such as Grafana/Prometheus/Tempo).
  • Architectural fluency across a Django / React / Go stack.
  • Strong design-documentation discipline; your deliverables set the direction a team builds on.
  • Client-facing presence. You will hold technical direction with a customer CTO and their engineers.

What's Preferred
  • Real-time video / streaming media infrastructure (RTSP, media pipelines, hardware encoders).
  • Edge / on-premise device fleet management.
  • Healthcare or clinical data governance (PHI handling, data-residency and customer-approval constraints).
  • Ansible for on-premise host configuration.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected total cash compensation for this role is market-driven, with an expected starting salary of $144,793 to $179,290. Salary is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
