Job Title: Regional Staff Engineer

Overview:

Audacy is seeking a talented Regional Staff Engineer to join our Houston-based engineering team. This hands-on role is ideal for a proactive professional with robust radio broadcast engineering skills and the flexibility to provide support and travel to multiple markets.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain, inspect, and repair all broadcast radio station equipment, including high power FM + HD, AM, digital audio & audio streaming, studio equipment, automation systems, remote control equipment, remote broadcast equipment, satellite downlinks, network infrastructure, generators, backup power systems, and related equipment in keeping with good engineering practices.
  • Support studio operations by managing AOIP networks, studio hardware, UPS systems, remote control equipment, and VOIP/telephone systems.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by reviewing weekly transmitter and studio logs, EAS tests, and tower lighting requirements per F.C.C. regulations.
  • Install and troubleshoot broadcast IT systems, including WideOrbit and Axia, at both studio and transmitter sites.
  • Oversee critical infrastructure maintenance, including generator testing, fueling, and UPS system supervision.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Networking Team and vendors to manage ISP/Networking circuits and service calls.
  • Assist in the technical planning and development of facilities, including data networks and backup power systems.
  • Develop instructional materials and provide training for operators on technical equipment and systems.
  • Provide 24/7 emergency support for equipment failures, including availability for weekends and holidays as required.
  • Maintain broadcast IT systems at studios and transmitter sites, such as WideOrbit and Axia
  • Assist in planning and development of all aspects of technical facilities including studios, transmitters, AOIP, VOIP, satellite, STL, computers and data networks
  • Create instructional materials and teach operators to use technical equipment and systems
  • Handle ISP/Networking problems and service calls. Work with Corp Networking Team, Vendor Technicians to install and troubleshoot circuits.
  • Generator testing, fueling and supervision of Generator maintenance.
  • UPS testing and supervision of maintenance.
  • Effectively communicate and partner with programming staff as well as outside partners.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years broadcast engineering experience.
  • Associates degree in electronics preferred.
  • IT networking skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
  • Ability to provide support 24/7 in case of equipment failure; available to work various hours/days, including weekends and holidays.
  • FCC General Class License or SBE Certifications are a plus.
  • A valid drivers license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicants own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
  • Strong verbal and writing communications skills.
