What You'll Be Doing

You'll contribute to CIBC's Digital transformation by successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects involving multiple back-end systems. As a Sr. Technical Solution Designer within the Commercial Banking & Payments Technology group you'll build, implement and enhance easy, flexible, and personalized solutions that enhance the client experience. This role turns business and architecture concepts into implementable designs and supports both the development & project management in delivering the end product. As you lead the solution and strategy for the technical design of these applications, you'll help build the future of banking.

How You'll Succeed

  • Design & Develop: Provide comprehensive senior level technical consulting to senior IT management and technical teams, working closely with multiple Technology groups and LOBs to identify and evaluate existing applications and determine the best and most relevant approaches and next steps. Provide excellent advisory and SME expertise on best practices, methods and detailed approaches to integrating multiple applications in a highly complex environment, including helping to create high-level Design artifacts, identify design issues as well as detailed system integration plans. Perform evaluation as well as selection of new and emerging tools and techniques and support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options. Work with the BAs to ensure a full set of Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) are defined as appropriate to the project. Provide end-to-end technology solutions in alignment with business vision and overall payments technology strategy.
  • Strong Leadership: Lead Special Projects and Technology Proof-of-Concepts by working closely with external partners/vendors to ensure the designed specifications achieve business needs. Co-ordinate with Business partners to define joint Business-Technology Roadmap, and translate user requirements to define and design high-level solution. Participate in the evaluation of external products / services, and make recommendation on these products that align with the strategic vision of the group and the Bank. Provide broad understanding of platforms and applications across all technologies and work with the BAs and Business to identify what data volumes would be expected for different flows, different interfaces and different User Interface components, documenting underlying assumptions as appropriate. Participate with creation of BRD User Story map, review and recommend signoff, as well as elaboration sessions as the SRDs are defined.


Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience with: A minimum of 5 years as a Solution or Technical Architect. You have experience leading technical teams, creating executive decks independently and are well versed at presenting to executives. Experience working with business and architecture teams to develop and design technology solutions is essential to this role. Ideally, you have progressed through application development, analysis and design through your career. It's an asset if: You have previous expertise within Payments.
  • You have a degree/diploma in: Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or Technical discipline.
