Eaton's Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Sr Systems Engineer - Lighting. This is a hybrid role at our GEIS headquarters in Syracuse, NY. Relocation is not provided.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:This position is accountable for defining the system requirements, system activities and providing technical leadership and support across Eaton's portfolio of harsh, hazardous and industrial luminaire products and related components. The Sr. System Engineer serves as a technical lead in system architecture and integration of mechanical, optical, hardware and software. Reviews products requirements, generates system specifications, and contributes to or leads the design of system architecture. The incumbent defines Validation & Verification strategy and oversees the overall V-cycle process to ensure that system and functional requirements are met using proven industry standards.
Responsible for collaborating with team members and project managers to estimate development, resources, and timing to achieve desired results. Trains and mentors less experienced engineers and provide technical direction to global engineering centers. Engages in a wide variety of projects, conducts feasibility studies to ensure that objectives and program timings are met. Provides technical support and interfaces with marketing, operations, and other departments.
This position requires advanced knowledge of engineering processes, manufacturing techniques, quality systems, The candidate should be experienced in Light Tools and other related design tools for optical engineering. Key skills include advanced product design principles, engineered material selection, design to cost analysis, project management, cross functional team collaboration, technical report writing, computer assisted design (CAD), and proficiency with standard PC based spreadsheet and word processing tools.
Qualifications:Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of systems engineering experience (mechanical, optical, hardware, and software).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical degree.
- Experience with networked luminaire control systems.
- Proficiency with Engineering software (Solid Works and AutoCAD).
- Proficiency with Product Data Management systems (preferably SAP, Enovia).
- Project Management experience.
- Experience with IESNA standards and application such as LM-79, TM-21, TM-30,etc.
- Demonstrated experience designing and optimizing optical solutions using LightTools or equivalent optical simulation software.
- Ability to interpret photometric data and correlate simulation results with physical testing.
