Summary

Redwire Space Enterprises is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Goleta, CA. In this role, you will ensure that new and existing suppliers-and the products they deliver-meet site, program, and quality requirements. You will support both the Quality and Procurement organizations by assessing supplier capabilities, driving issue resolution, and contributing to supplier development and continuous improvement efforts. This position plays a key role in maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the successful delivery of high-reliability aerospace hardware.

Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management
  • Support supplier quality assurance processes and maintain compliance with established Quality Management System procedures.
  • Review engineering specifications to help determine proper supplier selection.
  • Conduct supplier assessments, audits, performance reviews, and periodic re-certification activities.
  • Apply appropriate quality clauses and requirements during purchase order review and approval.
  • Perform supplier source inspections and pre-shipment reviews to ensure product conformity.


Issue Investigation & Corrective Action
  • Investigate supplier-related product or production issues and collaborate with suppliers to resolve problems.
  • Process supplier nonconformances through established material review processes.
  • Issue supplier corrective action requests and ensure adequacy of root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Follow up with suppliers to confirm corrective action implementation and effectiveness.


Supplier Support & Development
  • Provide proactive and reactive supplier development support based on performance metrics.
  • Recommend improvements or corrective actions based on audit results, performance trends, and production issues.


Cross-Functional & External Collaboration
  • Interface with suppliers, customers, engineering, procurement, and program teams on supplier quality matters.
  • Prepare and communicate clear, data-driven reports related to supplier performance and quality activities.
  • Support other programs and quality initiatives as assigned by the Quality Manager.


Work Style
  • Work under general direction, developing approaches to solve a variety of moderately complex problems.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a STEM field and a minimum of 5-7 years of supplier quality engineering experience (aerospace/space industry preferred), or 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier quality assurance methodologies and practices.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and related quality standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Ability to use common mechanical inspection tools and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with quality management systems and supporting software tools.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to supplier sites (local and occasional out-of-state).
  • US Citizen or US Person under ITAR requirements.


Desired Skills
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing, components, and processes.
  • Familiarity with solar panels/cells, composites, electrical harnesses, or machined parts.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and TIPQA ERP systems.

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
