Position Title: Sr. Substation Protection Engineer
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week
Summary of Duties: Design, implement, and maintain protective relay systems and associated equipment for power systems. Prepare and execute (FAT) Factory Acceptance Test procedures & testing environments for customer projects. Prepare and execute (SAT) Site Acceptance Test procedures and commissioning scripts for customer projects. Prepare Test Set (Omicron, Doble, etc...) routines for various protection applications. Configure and test relays for protection and controls schemes of substations systems. Collaborate with a team of professionals to develop protection schemes that meet industry standards and customer requirements. Be a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities. Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support. Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases. 75% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or a related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or as a Protection Engineer, Power System Engineer, Testing and Commissioning Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires four (4) years of experience with the following skills: Experience as a Project Technical Lead; Experience with DC and AC schematics, three-and one-line diagrams for Medium or High Voltage substation systems; Advanced knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, or others relay/automation products and associated software; Experience with Medium Voltage Protection, including the following: Overcurrent / Over-Undervoltage, Transformer Differential, Motor Protection, High and Low Impedance Busbar Differential, Generation Protection, and MV transfer schemes and reverse interlocking schemes; Communication protocols such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, Profinet, or Profibus; Control and Protection commissioning experience; Factory and Site testing experience in automation and control systems. 75% domestic travel required.
