Sr. Staff Technology Solutions Analyst

The Markets Technology team is looking for a Sr. Staff Technology Solutions Analyst to provide technical analysis for CME's Order Entry, Matching and Market Data systems. The Markets Analysis team works on the core trade execution systems that power our electronic trading platforms CME Globex, EBS Direct and BrokerTec Stream. Our systems need to be both low latency and have high reliability while continuously delivering new products and features. The Solutions Analyst role works with the product, operations, and technology teams to drive creative solutions that meet the needs of our business and maintain our performance profile. The analyst will perform execution delivery activities like data and messaging design, component impact analysis, detailed requirement discovery, technical scenario buildout, test distillation review and functional detailed design. Our primary goal is to create shared understanding through detailed analysis and pressure test ideas in a way that ensures we are delivering quality features.

Typical responsibilities:
  • Leading detailed elicitation, discovery, prototyping and technical analysis activities
  • Performing technical project analysis work such as data definition, mapping, messaging and API specification
  • Contributing to the product vision and impact assessment for new initiatives or enhancements
  • Partnering with DEV and QA on solution assessment and validation
  • Creating data design, flows and mappings between integrated components
  • Developing next level acceptance criteria to support our automated testing and behavior driven development (BDD)
  • Managing an ever-evolving technical analysis knowledge base
  • Establishing trusted working relationships with stakeholders, delivery teams and sponsors


You'd be a good fit if you have:

  • The ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external customers and vendors
  • Prior experience in leading and implementing large or medium scale technology based efforts
  • Experience with product oriented development, SDLC, Agile methodologies and practices
  • Knowledge of data analysis, database technologies, XML, JSON, object oriented design, cloud based integrations and supporting tools
  • B.A. or B.S. in business, information systems, computer science or similar degree. Relevant experience could also substitute


Great, but not required:
  • Experience in Financial Markets (e.g. Futures, Options, Cash, OTC, exchange-based, FCM, brokerage, middle and back office, private equity, proprietary trading)
  • Knowledge of financial products, electronic trading, order management, market data, clearing, or post-trade processing
  • Understanding of Product Oriented Development (POD), Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Domain Specific Language (DSL)
  • Experience with visual modeling, message design/API + flow, process modeling, and/or data modeling tools (FIX, SBE, GPB, FAST, XML)
  • Prior experience using Atlassian products (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
