RoleWe are looking for a Sr Staff Software Engineer (Quality & Automation) to join our team. This is a hybrid (in office San Jose, CA minimum 3 days per week) role, reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering in the ZPA Engineering department. In this highly impactful role, you will lead software quality engineering and test automation for Zscaler's highly distributed security cloud built on Zero Trust Architecture. You will leverage AI-assisted frameworks for test automation while actively participating in crucial cloud operations to achieve five nines of high availability.
What you'll do (Role Expectations)- Gain an in-depth understanding of Zscaler cloud technologies, particularly Datapath, and leverage AI frameworks for test-driven development
- Work closely with developers and product management to understand and provide inputs on new features
- Lead AI-assisted test plan generation, execution, test automation, and bug fix validation
- Contribute to core cloud operations, including phased software rollouts, feature enablement, alert handling, and capacity planning
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex system failures across distributed networks while conducting performance benchmarking and chaos testing

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)- Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in network testing and automation
- Experience testing cloud, security, and Datapath technologies
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, observability tools, and operational automation
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)- Experience with AI-assisted testing, automation, and validation frameworks
- Prior experience with Zero Trust Architecture or related security domains
- Experience supporting high-scale cloud operations

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
Base Pay Range
$157,500-$225,000 USD
