As a Sr. Systems Engineer III, you'll deliver secure enterprise PKI solutions across on-premises and cloud environments. You'll modernize certificate services, manage certificate and key lifecycles, integrate PKI with identity platforms, automate processes, resolve complex issues, and maintain compliance with federal security standards.
What you'll do:- Design, modernize, and sustain enterprise PKI across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Engineer and administer certificate authorities, trust chains, OCSP, CRLs, and certificate lifecycles.
- Manage cryptographic services, key protection, HSMs, and recovery practices.
- Integrate PKI with AD CS, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, ADFS, applications, endpoints, and network devices.
- Automate certificate administration using PowerShell, Python, APIs, and orchestration tools.
- Apply DoD, NIST, FIPS, and STIG security requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Tier III/IV PKI issues.
- Document architectures, configurations, procedures, risks, and technical recommendations.
- Build customer trust through technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and professionalism.
What you'll need to succeed:- Active Top Secret
- 10+ years of relevant enterprise identity, cybersecurity, or systems engineering experience supporting projects of similar size, scope, and complexity.
- Proven hands-on experience engineering, administering, troubleshooting, and modernizing enterprise PKI infrastructure, including certificate authorities, trust chains, certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, OCSP/CRLs, and key protection.
- Strong knowledge of cryptographic principles, certificate lifecycle management, key management systems, hardware security modules, and PKI high-availability and recovery practices.
- Experience integrating PKI with Active Directory and AD CS, Microsoft Entra ID, ADFS, applications, endpoints, network devices, and on-premises or cloud identity services.
- Experience applying applicable DoD, NIST, FIPS, STIG, risk-management, and change-control requirements to PKI services.
- Ability to lead modernization initiatives, evaluate emerging technologies, develop engineering recommendations, and document architectures, configurations, operational procedures, and corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
- Must satisfy the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the 451 System Administrator work role; no additional technical certification is required.
This position is designated as essential personnel supporting continuity of operations and may require work during government shutdowns, emergencies, or other critical situations.SALARY RANGE: $140,000 - $225,000
The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:
- The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
- The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
- Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
- This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
- Performance-based bonuses
