Job Description

The IT Strategic Vendor Management Sr. Specialist supports the Vendor Management Office (VMO) in the governance, oversight, and relationship management of technology vendors and IT service providers. This role serves as a key liaison among internal IT and business stakeholders, Supply Chain, Legal, Cybersecurity, and vendors to help ensure IT software contracts, licensing agreements, statements of work, service commitments, performance expectations, and business objectives are achieved.

This role assists with IT supplier performance management, software and IT services contract compliance, licensing and consumption oversight, service-level reporting, governance activities, technology risk management, financial tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have experience working with IT software contracts, agreements, and/or IT services, along with strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills. This position requires the ability to manage competing priorities, perform detailed analysis, and support technology vendor relationships that are critical to secure and reliable business operations.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Support technology supplier relationships by fostering collaboration among IT, business stakeholders, Supply Chain, Legal, Cybersecurity, and vendor organizations to achieve service and business objectives
  • Monitor IT vendor performance against software and IT services contractual obligations, service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), operational level agreements (OLAs), license entitlements, and experience-based measures
  • Develop, analyze, and distribute IT vendor scorecards, service performance reports, trends, and dashboards to support operational and executive governance reviews
  • Coordinate and facilitate IT vendor governance meetings, including agenda development, documentation of decisions and action items, issue tracking, escalation management, and follow-up on commitments
  • Assist in the review and interpretation of IT software contracts, license and subscription agreements, statements of work, amendments, renewals, support and maintenance terms, and service-level schedules to support compliance and alignment with technical and business requirements
  • Track vendor, technology, cybersecurity, compliance, and service-delivery risks, issues, escalations, audit findings, and remediation activities, ensuring timely resolution and communication to stakeholders
  • Analyze IT vendor financial information, software licensing and subscription charges, cloud or consumption-based services, invoices, credits, and contractual adjustments to validate accuracy, entitlement, and contractual compliance
  • Partner with IT product and service owners, Supply Chain, Legal, Cybersecurity and business stakeholders to support technology sourcing, vendor assessments, contract negotiations, renewals, and contract lifecycle management activities
  • Identify opportunities for IT service improvement, software license optimization, demand and consumption management, innovation, automation, and cost optimization through analysis of vendor performance, usage data, and industry practices
  • Prepare executive presentations, briefing materials, and management reports that summarize IT supplier performance, contractual compliance, technology and service risks, financial impacts, achievements, and recommended actions


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Finance or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in IT vendor management, technology supplier relationship management, IT contract or software asset management, technology procurement, and/or IT financial analysis.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience working with technology vendors, software publishers, cloud or SaaS providers, managed service providers (MSPs), IT consulting firms, or other IT service providers, required
  • Experience reviewing or administering IT software contracts, licensing or subscription agreements, statements of work, and/or IT services agreements, required
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting IT service performance metrics, SLAs, KPIs, license or subscription usage, and vendor service reports, preferred
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports, presentations, and management communications, preferred
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead meetings and translate contractual, business, and technical information for diverse stakeholders, preferred
  • Ability to develop clear contract summaries, governance materials, procedures, and documentation for stakeholders with diverse business and technical backgrounds, preferred
  • Working knowledge of IT contract lifecycle activities, including intake, review, approval, execution, renewal, amendment, termination, and obligation tracking, preferred
  • Familiarity with software licensing models, SaaS subscriptions, maintenance and support terms, cloud consumption, data protection, cybersecurity, and audit requirements, preferred
