Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Solutions Architect to provide technical leadership across our organization, with strong emphasis on federal government contracting. This role is responsible for understanding and shaping our end-to-end IT capabilities, developing and articulating enterprise-level solutions for technical proposals, and serving as a trusted technical authority for internal teams and customers. As new contracts are awarded, this position may also support direct client engagements.

The ideal candidate blends hands-on technical depth with strong architectural vision, communication skills, and an ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

**Must be local to the DC Metro Area, mostly remote**

Salary: 165k-190k (Negotiable for the right candidate)

 

Responsibilities
  • Lead or significantly contribute to the technical solution sections of federal proposals, including system architecture, security, cloud, and implementation approaches.
  • Collaborate with capture managers, proposal managers, and subject matter experts to develop winning technical strategies.
  • Clearly articulate proposed solutions, assumptions, risks, and trade-offs in proposal narratives and diagrams.
  • Design and document enterprise and solution architectures aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop reusable solution architectures and technical content based on corporate past performance to support proposal development.
  • Serve as an internal technology subject matter expert across domains such as software engineering, systems integration, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data platforms, and emerging technologies.
  • Act as a technical advisor to delivery teams, providing guidance on architecture decisions, technology selection, and long-term scalability.
  • Research emerging technologies and industry trends, assess their applicability, and develop proof-of-concept prototypes where appropriate.
  • Facilitate brown-bag sessions, technical workshops, or knowledge-sharing forums to build organizational capability and awareness.
  • Assist with architectural oversight and high-level management of corporate cloud environments (AWS and Azure), including guidance on security, scalability, reliability, and cost optimization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting IT projects and solution development across multiple technology domains.
  • 3+ years of experience in an Enterprise Architect, Solutions Architect, or similar role designing complex, enterprise-scale systems.
  • Experience supporting federal government programs and proposal efforts.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, high-quality documentation and architecture diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing web-based applications using Java or .NET, along with modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Enterprise application architectures and integration patterns
    • Relational databases and data-driven systems
    • Client-server and distributed systems
    • Web services and APIs
    • Linux and Windows server environments
    • Cloud architectures and deployment models
  • Experience supporting the implementation and operation of enterprise applications and infrastructure.
  • Relative certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect) are a plus.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with security and compliance in regulated environments, including development or support of System Security Plans (SSPs).
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST SP 800-53, CMMC, and related controls.
  • Experience or familiarity with AI/ML, natural language processing, data analytics, or advanced data platforms.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere.
  • Experience with enterprise content management and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, OpenText).
  • Familiarity with industry best-practice frameworks such as ITIL, CMMI, TOGAF, or similar enterprise architecture methodologies.
