Job Title: Sr. Software Systems Engineer

Location: Onsite - Huntsville, AL

Salary Range: $120,000 to $160,000 + Bonus Eligible

Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

This position requires full time onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.

Descriptions

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced missile systems, with primary responsibility for requirements management and system verification and validation (V&V). This role is critical to ensuring mission-critical missile capabilities are defined, traced, verified, and validated in accordance with rigorous defense and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has strong experience developing avionics system requirements utilizing DOORS, managing requirements, and working hands-on in lab environments to validate and troubleshoot integrated systems. This position requires a systems engineer to use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the systems engineering field to design, develop, integrate, and test software and systems. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work independently at times on projects, at other times will be in a collaborative team environment with other systems and software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or STEM discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, with a strong focus on complex multi-system software and hardware development, integration and test.
  • Experience with Requirements Analysis and Verification.
  • Familiarity with Requirements Management Tools (DOORS, Cameo)
  • Familiarity with DOD and/or missile defense applications and systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-impact solutions.
  • Ability to professionally communicate project status and collaborate on technical solutions with clients and peers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Ability to work onsite 100%


Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (DOORS, Cameo)
  • Understanding of System Integration and Test
  • Familiarity with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C)
  • Ability to own technical problems through resolution
  • Ownership of traceability breaks or verification shortfalls
  • Cross-functional coordination to resolve requirements conflicts
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
  • Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
