PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design, code, and maintain web services and applications that directly provide core capabilities for PayPal. Build and implement platform level features, such as configuration management, service discovery and routing, feature switch, A/B testing, etc. Develop modern web applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS and leveraging web frameworks such as React and Node.js. Build scalable, resilient, and high-performance backend services using Java, Python, and related technologies. Create technical improvements to engineering process, quality, and efficiency through automation, proper code abstraction, and monitoring. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop extensible technical solutions for complex tech problems. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Developing large-scale e-commerce applications Java, Spring Core and Spring Batch, with good hands-on exposure to SQL and NoSQL technologies, relational and free form databases, including strong data architecture and SQL/PL-SQL development skills (3 years)
2. Modern web application development using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, React.js and Node.js, building dynamic, performant, and accessible user interfaces (3 years)
3. Responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web performance optimization (3 years)
4. Applying advanced object-oriented design and development principles (3 years)
5. Designing and developing data intensive applications and architecting them for scalability and availability (3 years)
6. Developing high traffic backend micro services, with low latency and designing them for scale (3 years)
7. Applying software design patterns, data structures, algorithms (3 years)
8. Collaborating with business users to define the key business requirements and translate them into process/technical solutions (3 years)
9. Debugging and problem resolution skills (3 years)
10. Focuses test driven development and automation (3 years)
11. Refactoring existing codebase and existing implementations to decide to refactor or rewrite (3 years)
12. Identify Performance bottlenecks and use good coding patterns to avoid them (3 years)
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $169,576.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
