PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design, develop and deploy software applications and services that handle all types of PayPal transactions. Design and build for reliability, availability, scalability and performance in Restful Services in a commercial setting. Test, troubleshoot and solve technical issues for software features and functions delivered via applications and services. Write elegant, readable, and maintainable software code. Identify opportunities for software performance tuning and ensure that the software applications and services are available and reliable. Participate in requirement walkthroughs and software design discussions. Lead architectural discussions and contribute to the overall technical direction of the applications, advocating for best practices and innovative solutions. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, architects, and database administrators using agile methodologies to deliver high quality software solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles. Support applications and services on a 24/7 basis. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered, as a Software Engineer, or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Programming Languages & Concepts: One or more programming languages like Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript.
2. Data Structures, Algorithms, or OOPs concepts.
3. Frameworks & Tools: Experience using Spring Boot, Hibernate, JUnit, Mockito, Maven, Gradle, or GTest.
4. Enterprise Microservices & Architecture: Microservices design, REST APIs, Batch Processing (Spring Batch, Tasklets), Raptor REST client, NVP APIs, or Distributed Systems.
5. Cloud & Containerization: Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
6. Monitoring & Observability: Splunk, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Zookeeper, or Alertmanager.
7. Database Operations: Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Developer, or query optimization.
8. CI/CD & DevOps: Jenkins, Git, SVN, Linux, Windows, or MacOS.
9. Web Development & Frontend: Oracle JET, ReactJS, AngularJS, HTML5, CSS, JQuery, Bootstrap, or NodeJS.
10. Testing & Quality: End-to-End Testing (Jest, Cypress), A/B testing frameworks and performance testing (JMeter basics).
11. Security & Networking: HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, Authentication and Authorization flows.
12. Development Environments: Experience using one or more IDEs like IntelliJ, VS Code, Eclipse. Experience using Postman, Swagger.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

San Jose, California | Salary: $169,576.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
