The role

Senior SAP Technical Lead Contributes to the overall success of GHRT Payroll, Time, Core HR and Rewards teams globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Provide highly specialized technical expertise in the analysis, design, development, and support of cost-effective online HR management and decision support systems, within SAP Software
  • Collaborate with internal Technical Business Analysts to review and clarify Business User Requirements to ensure design is compliant and meets our internal standards, policies and procedures
  • The incumbent is responsible for the resolution of complex business problems and must work under tight deadlines, conflicting priorities and changing requirements. This may include managing multiple small projects, participating in and/or managing specific sections of large projects, and providing ongoing support to all assigned units globally (utilizing Agile methodologies where applicable).
  • Independently resolve complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs, by applying their HR and technological knowledge to the design of methodologies, models, and/or systems solutions. This includes conducting research and analysis, participate in defining technical requirements and processes, participating in the reengineering of the HR business process and liaising with the users.
  • Manage multiple small HR technology projects and/or manage specific sections of large projects to implement technology solutions for HR business problems. This involves planning and scheduling resources, developing detailed project plans and monitoring progress against planned objectives.
  • Participate in Various SAP systems implementation process by interpreting business requirements into systems analysis, technical specification, documenting detailed reporting requirements, configuration of software, development of new reports and/or integrations and providing post-implementation support.
  • Participate in the review of Quality Assurance (QA) test strategies for assigned projects/initiatives to ensure the planned testing is comprehensive and consistent with the business requirements. Support QA testing by analyzing defects to provide clarification of technical specifications and defect resolution.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • 10+ SAP ABAP Hands on experience
  • Good Understanding of SAP BTP Extension Suite, including implementation
  • Experience with Fiori development
  • Proficient Hands-on Configuration Experience in SAP RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows), BADIs, TMS (Transport Management System), deployment workflows
  • Expertise with SAP HCM Infotypes, Schema, GL Mapping, Payroll Processing and Debugging
  • Provide technical SAP expertise and guidance to our Functional Business Analysts
  • Creative, self-starting, results oriented and highly motivated individual with expert analytical skills to apply this knowledge to independently resolve complex problems.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain cooperation from both users and senior management. These skills, along with the incumbent's good time management and organizational skills, will allow the incumbent to effectively manage small projects while planning and scheduling resources within those projects to optimize productivity.
  • Must have a very good understanding of current IT practices, systems development techniques, including requirements specification and testing methodologies, real time analytical and formal modelling tools and keep current with rapidly changing technology.
  • A recognized under-graduate degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Spanish speaking an asset
