Full Job Description
Position Summary

Plays a critical role in sustaining EVgo's existing charging solutions and supporting the development of next-generation Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) through quality engineering, statistical analysis, and supplier collaboration. Drives quality initiatives, assesses risk, and helps ensure robust and reliable product performance throughout the product lifecycle. Partners closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, and Field Service teams to resolve quality issues and strengthen EVgo's charging network reliability.

Responsibilities

Quality Planning & Inspection

  • Creates and executes quality plans, including inspection and test plans, for EVSE products and its subcomponents.
  • Conducts incoming, in-process, and final inspections of EVSE components and systems to verify compliance with specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.

Supplier Quality & Corrective Action

  • Collaborates with suppliers to establish quality standards, performing audits and assessments, verifying process controls, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborated with suppliers and internal design engineering teams to establish PPAP deliverables for the products and components as part of the supplier qualification effort.
  • Manages non-conformance reports (NCRs) and tracks supplier corrective actions to closure.
  • Supports root cause analysis (RCA) and Eight Disciplines (8D) problem-solving processes for field failures.

Field & Construction Quality

  • Oversees field service quality and construction quality processes to ensure proper installation and commissioning of EVSE chargers.
  • Works with field service suppliers, construction engineering, contractors, and site managers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement & QMS

  • Monitors and analyzes field data to identify trends, failure modes, and areas for improvement, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers and Field Service teams.
  • Analyzes quality data to identify process optimization and defect reduction opportunities, leading or participating in kaizen and other lean initiatives.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains Quality Management System (QMS) processes aligned with industry standards.
  • Promotes a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned to support team and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61851, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 2202, and other EVSE-specific requirements.
  • Experience with quality management software, Product lifecycle management software (Windchill).
  • Equivalent technical education or training in a related field (e.g., certification program, coursework in electrical or reliability engineering, or demonstrated on-the-job learning) accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Understanding and application of quality tools and methodologies, including 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC), across supplier quality management, construction quality, and audit processes.
  • Familiarity with quality engineering principles, root cause analysis techniques, and statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
  • Up to 40% of travel may be required for supplier audits, field investigations, and construction site visits.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification, or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment.
