Sr Director of Quality at our
Elyria, OH location.
Job Summary:The Senior Director of Quality for the Fluid Management Solution provides strategic and tactical quality leadership across multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring robust deployment of the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS), regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and product lifecycle quality. Scope spans Product Development, New Product Introduction (NPI), Production, Supply Chain, and Product Support. This leader is key to the continued implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and the mentoring and coaching for the team in AS9145. The role requires a proven, results-driven quality leader with exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong sense of urgency, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Essential Functions:- The Sr. Quality Director is the lead facilitator of AS9100 Quality Management System through full compliance flow-down into all business aspects to assure safety, airworthiness, conformity and product reliability are met across multiple Crane sites.
- Lead APQP within Product Development/ New product Introduction Process by integrating organization, industry, and customer quality requirements into new design development projects using AS9145
- Effectively manages the supply base quality performance over the lifecycle (selection, qualification, management, monitoring and measurement. Ensure that the quality of purchased materials meets requirements and comply with applicable regulations. • Establish a zero-defect culture by leading the deployment and continuous improvement of based on AS9145 • Ensure the effectiveness of measurement and monitoring systems to achieve improvement across the multi-site businesses key metrics and quality processes key metrics. • Develop and implement a quality organizational structure capable of supporting the strategic initiatives and lead the efforts to integrate quality into development of short and long terms business plans. Establish proactive business impact, planning, budgeting, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources for quality function.
- Lead effort to define and train employees on root-cause analysis and problem-solving tools to identify effective corrective actions/process improvements
- Establish collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality
- Analyze and resolve customer complaints and field reliability issues. Coordinate product and component failure analysis. Drive corrective action, and inspection of all program hardware and documentation and supplier quality improvements
Minimum Qualifications:- 15+ years Quality assurance experience in the defense, space electronics or high-end aerospace industry in a management role, preferably with multi-site experience; additional Automotive experience is a plus.
- Experience with business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
- Experience with advanced product quality planning in high reliability product development/ new product introduction
- Experience with FAA, EASA, CAAC Part 21 and Part 145.
- Experience with Government Contracts, DLA, DCMA
- Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (EE, ME, MSc., Chem) from an accredited institution
- Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications:- Strongly preferred experience with APQP tools - Process flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, Process Capability, SPC
- AS9100 Auditor experience, Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ CQM, CQE
- Preferred experience with electronics manufacturing methods including precision GD&T Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for Machining and Grinding
- Preferred experience with NADCAP special processes requirements
- Preferred experience with electronics manufacturing methods including IPC-610 Class 3 and IPC J-STD-001, MIL-PRF-38534 Hybrid Electronics
- Preferred experience with DO-254 HW, DO-178 SW
- Preferred experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
