Onsite – Buffalo, NYOur Space division is eager to welcome a new Sr. Project Engineer role to their dynamic team in East Aurora, NY! This Sr. Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the technical compliance and engineering execution performance over the full product lifecycle. The Sr. Project Engineer is the customer’s primary technical point of contact (TPOC) and is committed to leading a team of highly skilled, cross-disciplinary technical professionals, driving the creation of innovative solutions to technical challenges while upholding our commitments to both internal and external customers. This role will also provide mentorship/guidance for more junior project engineers and support business initiatives and improvements as well. You will report to the Staff Engineering Manager and enjoy an on-site work structure.
Here’s what you will need to bring with you to be considered for this role:
U.S. DoD Security Clearance is required.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Software, or Aerospace). Master’s Degree is a plus.
5 or more years of experience in a similar role within a complex, aerospace/defense manufacturing environment.
Prior experience leading or supporting full-lifecycle development across multiple projects; demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach other engineers.
Possess a deep understanding of earned value management (EVM) techniques and project management fundamentals like critical path analysis, risk/scope/change management, product cost vs. price, etc.
Experience interfacing with customers to include strong communication skills, comfortable working in undefined scope/requirements and capable of 9teering9 the customer.
Experience with electro-mechanical, thermal batteries, controllers, test equipment, thrusters, and/or attitude control systems is a plus.
Demonstrate effective 9systems thinking9 and the ability to understand how technical performance, producibility and product quality, business considerations, and customer needs all must be balanced.
As our Sr. Project Engineer, you will make critical contributions by holding the following responsibilities:
Support the full lifecycle of the program, ensuring development programs are well-positioned execution.
Providing technical direction to the customers as Moog navigates ambiguous requirements/change management processes.
Ensure technical solutions and initiatives are fully integrated into business objectives, priorities, and technology roadmaps; align closely with division and site leadership to assess present and future business needs and direction.
Prioritize cross-functional collaboration to achieve division and group-level goals; Act in full coordination with Functional Engineering, Product Engineering, the Office of Chief Engineers, and Business Unit/Program leadership to ensure New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts are planned and executed successfully.
Deliver on the technical, scope, budget, and schedule commitments made to our customers for development and production programs.
Reduce the potential for product quality issues.
Support the proposals process, including cost estimates, and writing the technical volume.
Establish relationships with customer and Moog networks built on trust and competence.
Provide technical perspective and guidance regarding potential business decisions that may have long-term financial or strategic impact. Be a key influencer in driving the group9s efforts to increase profitability.
Maintain awareness of customer and Moog technology roadmaps and be a key influencer in aligning efforts to meet future customer needs.
Demonstrate technical acumen for driving resolutions to complex issues involving engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, programs, and customer considerations, and ambiguous requirements.

Salary Range Transparency:

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
