Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

Shutterstock's Data Licensing and AI Services division helps organizations source, curate, and license high-quality creative datasets for training, fine-tuning, and enhancing multimodal AI systems.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy and execution of our Licensed Data & Training Services Platform.

This platform will be the backbone of our AI Data Licensing & Services business: a dataset discovery, curation, and orchestration layer that helps customers and partners manage and access data licensing and services.

This is both a highly strategic and hands-on role. The Senior Product Manager must balance roadmap execution, design leadership, market awareness, and stakeholder alignment to ensure Shutterstock successfully builds it's new Licensed Data & Training Services Platform. The ideal candidate is a design-savvy, data-informed, technically fluent Senior Product Manager with a strong understanding of customers' model training and inference workflows and needs.

The Day-to-Day:

Product & Roadmap Leadership
  • Capture requirements, understand customer needs and scope Shutterstock's new Licensed Data & Training Services Platform.
  • Execute roadmap and successfully launch the Licensed Data & Training Services Platform in partnership with core engineering and the ML team.
  • Understand and execute a logical phased approach that balances speed-to-market with core needs and also appropriately tiers our approach across internal teams and customer needs.

Stakeholder Management & Strategic Alignment
  • Ensure alignment of priorities across key business unit sponsors and engage in deep understanding of business needs such that roadmap reflects impact and business objectives.
  • Partner closely with all business unit stakeholders to ensure the platform strategy is well understood, removing any friction from achieving build and launch milestones and timelines.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering and the rest of the team, always ensuring clear understanding of new capabilities, timelines, value propositions, and competitive positioning.

Partner & Market Engagement
  • Identify and maintain partnerships with key technical and other partners to ensure seamless and rapid integration as defined and appropriate.
  • Track industry trends, evaluate competitor products, and research third-party vendor capabilities to inform roadmap decisions.
  • Facilitate onboarding and related documentation for content suppliers including reporting and other metrics that drive these key strategic partnerships.

Technical & Analytical Contribution
  • Understand the AI model training lifecycle and the natural Shutterstock touchpoints with customers to deliver value and relationship expansion.
  • Define and document benchmarks for platform performance and continually enhance and improve capabilities to ensure the business is maximizing its opportunity.

What You'll Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Product Management, Computer Science, AI, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years in product management, ideally with SaaS, APIs, or AI-powered applications.
  • Track record of shipping B2B platform-based products.
  • Proven success in stakeholder alignment across product, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams.
  • Experience managing products dealing with hyperscale data ingestion and processing (petabyte-scale multimedia datasets).
  • Experience managing products that integrate with customer/partner ML training pipelines.
  • Ability to develop deep understanding of multimedia dataset curation and retrieval, including how metadata, taxonomy, lexical and semantic search, filtering/ranking, and relevance signals are used to assemble fit-for-purpose datasets for ML training and evaluation.

Key Skills & Competencies
Product & Business Acumen
  • Deep understanding of data storage, ingress / egress, APIs, and metadata discovery / search.
  • Ability to balance customer needs with revenue goals.
  • Strong grasp of data governance for model training: provenance, rights/consent, auditability, retention, and policy enforcement.
Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Working knowledge of AI models, APIs, and cloud-based integrations.
  • Fluency in data/metrics to drive product decisions.
  • Deep familiarity with customer ML workflows (multimodal/3D), including how teams consume datasets, human feedback, and evaluation results.
Design & UX Judgment
  • Strong design instincts and ability to guide UX teams.
  • Competitive research mindset to benchmark implementations.

  • Customer-first orientation with enterprise and end-user empathy.
Curiosity & Vision
  • Passion for generative AI and rapid market evolution.
