Job Description

Intro

The DealerOps team at Cox Automotive is leading the modernization of the dealer management system experience - reimagining how dealerships access, understand, and act on their own data as part of a cloud-native platform built for the way dealers work today. This is foundational platform work, and the data and reporting domain sits at the center of it.

As a Senior Product Manager for DMS Data & Reporting, you will drive discovery, delivery, and continuous improvement across the reporting and data access capabilities that dealership operators, controllers, and general managers rely on to run their business. This role is the connective layer between DMS Accounting, Fixed Ops, F&I, Sales, OEM's and enterprise data platforms - ensuring the reporting experience across the DMS is coherent, consistent, and genuinely useful at the point of decision rather than a collection of siloed outputs. This is a high-impact role for someone who understands both the dealer side of the equation and the technical realities of building data products at scale.

What You'll Do
  • Own a defined set of DMS Data & Reporting capabilities end-to-end, from discovery through delivery, ensuring features are well-scoped, prioritized, and shipped with quality.
  • Serve as the central product voice for the DMS reporting experience across Cox, aligning with product leaders across Accounting, Fixed Ops, F&I, Sales, and enterprise data teams to ensure reporting capabilities are consistent, non-duplicative, and delivered as a unified dealer experience rather than a collection of siloed outputs.
  • Conduct dealer research and site visits on a recurring cadence, building relationships with controllers, GMs, and operations staff to understand how they consume data, where current reporting falls short, and what decisions they need better visibility into.
  • Define and maintain a reporting maturity roadmap that moves dealers from static, backward-looking reports toward dynamic, actionable data experiences - aligned to the broader DMS modernization strategy.
  • Create and maintain well-structured backlogs across Epic, Feature, and Story altitudes, partnering with engineering and data platform teams to refine scope, resolve dependencies, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Engineering, Architecture, Data Governance, and Go-to-Market to ensure data and reporting releases are well-executed, performant, and dealer-ready.
  • Use product metrics, usage data, and qualitative feedback to evaluate in-market performance of reporting features and make evidence-based recommendations for iteration and investment.
  • Contribute to investment cases and roadmap inputs that connect data and reporting improvements to measurable dealer outcomes - including time saved, decision velocity, and operational visibility.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the competitive DMS reporting landscape, embedded analytics platforms, and evolving dealer expectations around data access and self-service reporting.

Who You Are

Minimum

Cox Automotive uses a capabilities framework to define how our product practitioners operate. Candidates for this role are expected to demonstrate working proficiency across its six practice areas.
  • For Market & Client Research, you participate in dealer site visits and interviews, synthesize research findings into structured discovery artifacts, and can identify and articulate problems and opportunities within an established data or reporting product domain.
  • For Product Strategy, you contribute to product vision and roadmap development with guidance from product leadership, and can support solution discovery and prioritization decisions with data and customer input - including an understanding of how reporting capabilities ladder up to broader platform strategy.
  • For Product Development, you create and maintain product backlogs at the Epic, Feature, and Story level with clear scope and acceptance criteria, facilitate refinement sessions with data and engineering partners, and deliver complete, high-quality release notes and launch inputs.
  • For In-Market Product Performance Management, you track and interpret product metrics and usage data to inform decisions, understand report adoption and engagement patterns, and can contribute to product lifecycle assessments with support from senior team members.
  • For Professional Essentials, you communicate clearly across engineering, data platform, design, and business stakeholders, adapt your communication style to your audience, and take accountability for your product area's outcomes.
  • For Technology Savvy, you engage productively in technical conversations with data engineers and architects, understand foundational data concepts such as schema design, data pipelines, and query performance, and can translate dealer reporting needs into technically grounded requirements.

Additionally, you have 3 or more years of product management experience owning features or workflows within a B2B or enterprise software product - with at least some exposure to data, analytics, or reporting products - experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments using tools such as Rally or Jira.

Preferred

Domain & Industry Experience
  • Familiarity with dealership operations, automotive retail workflows, or DMS software (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Tekion, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of dealership reporting needs across operational areas such as accounting, fixed ops, F&I, or sales - and an understanding of how controllers and GMs use data to manage their business.
  • Experience managing product through a platform migration or modernization effort involving legacy reporting replacement or data platform transitions.

Data & Reporting Product Fluency
  • Experience owning or contributing to embedded analytics, self-service reporting, or data visualization products - including familiarity with platforms such as Logi Analytics, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with modern data architecture concepts including data warehousing, data governance, dimensional modeling, or multi-tenant data delivery - and the ability to engage meaningfully with data engineers and architects on platform design decisions.
  • Working knowledge of how master data management principles apply to product data domains such as customer, vehicle, vendor, and third-party data.

Technical & Integration Fluency
  • Comfort writing or interpreting SQL queries to validate data outputs, investigate report accuracy issues, or support acceptance criteria definition.
  • Experience working within a scaled product organization with shared data platform dependencies and cross-team coordination needs.

AI Capability
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Context Engineering - the ability to structure prompts and inputs that produce reliable, useful AI outputs as part of day-to-day product and discovery work.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with AI-Native Product Building - the ability to identify where AI can meaningfully enhance reporting and data experiences, such as natural language querying, anomaly detection, or predictive insights, and contribute to defining what responsible, high-value AI integration looks like in practice.
