Full Job Description
This Senior Principal role is a senior individual-contributor and domain authority who owns Enterprise Business Architecture for Eaton's enabling functions - Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance. Working through influence and deep expertise rather than as a people leader, the person partners with function, product, engineering, and data leaders to develop enabling-function technology strategies and standards, function-specific architecture blueprints and patterns, and to advance business process management practices across Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance. He/She provides architecture guidance and governance for initiatives planned and executed within these enabling functions and analyzes technology and market trends to determine the potential impact of emerging technologies (including Generative AI and process automation in the Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance space) on the enterprise. This person is also responsible for evaluating the requirements of a business or IT request and then architecting, designing, and shaping the foundational technology and architecture frameworks for enterprise-wide solutions that support that request.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $165000 - $242000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do:

Enterprise Business Architecture Leadership & Strategic Influence (Enabling Functions)
• Serve as a senior thought partner and domain expert to Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance leaders, translating complex business, product, and technology strategies into clear architectural narratives that guide enterprise decisions
• Shape and socialize the Enterprise Business Capability Model (EBCM) for the enabling functions through compelling storytelling, ensuring alignment across Product, Engineering, Technology, Operations, and Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance organizations
• Support the evolution of the EBCM, capability taxonomies, value streams, and cross-enterprise operating frameworks that link enabling-function strategy to execution
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align enabling-function business capabilities with company domain, certified APIs, data models, applications, and integration patterns

Enterprise Modernization & Complex Use Case Enablement
• Lead the business architecture for high-impact enabling-function use cases including finance transformation, HR and workforce platform modernization, legal and compliance process simplification, source-to-pay optimization, multiyear investment planning, M&A process simplification, platform rationalization, and cross-platform modernization
• Conduct capability-to-technology mapping and journey/process analysis to identify synergies, redundancies, and modernization opportunities across Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance
• Guide leaders through operating model changes required for scalable, future-ready platforms and agentic system enablement
• Maintain authoritative architectural artifacts including capability maps, value streams, process models, and investment frameworks

Executive Engagement & Communication
• Represent enabling-function Business Architecture in senior forums, investment councils, roadmap discussions, and enterprise transformation steering groups.
• Craft clear, persuasive narratives that communicate enterprise architecture insights, modernization opportunities, and capability-driven decisions to senior functional and technology leadership.
• Serve as a visible domain expert driving adoption, clarity, and shared understanding of how the enabling functions create value and scale transformation.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in Business Architecture, Strategy, Enterprise Technology Strategy, or equivalent transformation roles, with direct exposure to enabling functions such as Finance, HR, Legal, or Compliance.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, and/or finance
• MBA or advanced degree
• Experience and knowledge of enterprise architecture and technology architecture functions and processes. Familiarity with EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc.
• Deep expertise in capability modeling, value streams, business process architecture, domain modeling, and strategy execution frameworks.
• Significant experience translating complex business requirements into coherent enterprise models used for decision-making and investment planning.
• Hands-on experience developing executive-committee and senior-leadership materials, including strategic storylines, transformation updates, and enterprise decision frameworks.
• Strong understanding of enterprise platforms, API ecosystems, integration architectures, and operating model transformation.
• Demonstrated experience developing enterprise architectures, patterns, and blueprints for enabling functions that can be implemented in the context of Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance technologies such as SAP S/4HANA Finance, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, Coupa/Ariba, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platforms such as SAP GRC or OneTrust.
• Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF/BizBOK - conceptual familiarity is highly desirable, certification will be a strong plus).
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and facilitate alignment across large, matrixed organizations.
• Experience shaping cross-functional frameworks across Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Operations.
• Exceptional executive storytelling capability, with a proven ability to translate complex strategies into clear, compelling narratives for senior leadership.
