Responsibilities

Strategic technical advisor and leader responsible for defining and driving the global Connectivity architecture vision across hardware and software systems. Partners with executive leadership and management to align architecture with product strategy, enabling scalable, high-performance solutions that meet complex customer and market requirements. Serves as the senior architectural authority, guiding cross-functional teams and ensuring the delivery of reliable, cost-effective, and future-ready software solutions for our in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

What you will be doing:

Connectivity Architecture
  • Serves as the architectural leader for in-flight entertainment and connectivity platforms, setting technical direction for the design, development, and lifecycle management of high-performance, low-latency software systems.
  • Partners with executive stakeholders and cross-functional leaders to define system requirements, shape solution architectures, and drive enterprise-wide technical initiatives aligned to business and customer outcomes.
  • Establishes and champions software engineering excellence, defining standards for code quality, testing rigor, scalability, and long-term maintainability across the organization.
  • Architects advanced content management and delivery solutions that optimize performance and enhance the end-to-end passenger experience.
  • Drives the adoption and evolution of cloud-native architectures, enabling highly scalable, resilient, and distributed systems.
  • Anticipates and evaluates emerging technologies and industry trends, guiding strategic adoption to maintain competitive advantage and future-proof systemcapabilities.
  • Acts as the senior technical authority in addressing complex, cross-system challenges, leveraging deep architectural expertise to drive best practices and design enhancements that ensure long-term reliability, scalability, and performance at global scale.

Technical Leadership
  • Leads and influences cross-functional teams as the senior technical authority, driving the development and deployment of enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Provides strategic technical guidance to executive stakeholders while mentoring and developing senior technical talent, including Principal Architects.
  • Anticipates and evaluates emerging technologies and industry trends, guiding their adoption to drive innovation and long-term organizational capability, while fostering a culture of knowledge sharing across the engineering community.

Connectivity Architecture Strategy
  • Ensures end-to-end architectural alignment across Network, Systems, Software, and Services, serving as the single architectural authority integrating all subsystems within the connectivity ecosystem.
  • Full accountability for driving the Connectivity Architecture roadmap in partnership with Product Management, the Connectivity Business Unit, and enterprise engineering teams.
  • Leads architectural strategy and governance within PI Planning, closely aligning with Product Management to translate business priorities into executable technical direction.
  • Acts as the primary escalation point for complex issues that span across Connectivity services
  • Partners with senior engineering leadership to inform performance calibration, contributing architectural perspective to talent assessment and organizational capability development.

The salary range of $205,000 - $343,000 annually is just one component of Panasonic's total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual's knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development.
  • Experience working with global connectivity providers and airline customers.
  • Significant experience in systems architecture or solution architecture roles.
  • Proven experience with connectivity systems, SATCOM, or aviation platforms.
  • Experience in in-flight connectivity (IFC/IFEC) systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory and certification environments preferred.
  • Proven ability to design and architect complex systems, balancing performance, scalability, and reliability considerations.
  • Expert-level background in low-latency systems design and development, with a focus on performance optimization.
  • Expertise in C++, Java, and Go programming languages.
  • Extensive experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Satellite communications and network architecture including Multi-Orbit (GEO; LEO; etc) technologies.
    • Distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
    • End-to-end system integration across hardware and software.
    • Proven ability to directly impact Connectivity product performance, scalability, and customer experience.
    • Proven ability to influence strategic technology investments and long-term roadmap direction.
    • Strong ability to enable delivery of next-generation IFC capabilities.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and optimization techniques.
  • Solid understanding of software version management tools such as Git or SVN.
  • Experience with Edge systems and resource-constrained environments.
  • Superior communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders - including enterprise-wide executives.
  • Deep understanding of business drivers, product strategy, and customer outcomes, with the ability to align architecture decisions to measurable business value.
  • Experience influencing without authority across large, matrixed environments
