Responsibilities

  • Design innovative assembly/test equipment and fixtures by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop specifications for manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage relationships and projects with external equipment suppliers from design to buy off.
  • Validate and characterize new equipment and fixtures for production use.
  • Create equipment CAD designs, layouts, and PM procedures to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Train technicians and line associates on manufacturing processes.
  • Design ergonomic and efficient production workstations.

Full Job Description
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to create manufacturing equipment and processes for our JIT Seat Manufacturing facility. The Equipment Engineer applies technical knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment. Responsible for working with cross functional team to manage design, procurement and commissioning of manufacturing equipment, tooling and fixtures.

Responsibilities
  • Design of novel manufacturing assembly/test equipment and fixtures by collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver a complete solution
  • Specification development for manufacturing equipment
  • Collaborate and manage external equipment suppliers from design to buy off
  • Validation and characterization of new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor
  • Create equipment 3D CAD, drawings, layouts, schematics, PM procedures, and critical spares list to maximize OEE of equipment
  • Train technicians and line associates on manufacturing processes
  • Design of production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency
  • Performance of process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing and capacity modeling


Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a hands-on Mechanical/Manufacturing/Eesign Engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency in designing mechanical equipment, fixtures and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks or Catia is preferred), manufacturing drawings, GD&T
  • Experience with NI Test Stand and Labview is preferred
  • Experience with SQL and Python programming is preferred
  • Experience with industrial control panel design and Allen Bradley PLC programming is preferred
  • Machining experience with conventional Lathe, Mill, Band/Circular saw, Grinder, Sheet metal brake is a plus
  • Familiarity with compliances and Legal requirement of automotive seating regulation
  • Experience in Automotive seating or interiors is a plus
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

      $96,000 - $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
