What you'll be doing

Client Account Management (CAM) plays an important role in supporting clients through moments that matter while balancing strong portfolio performance and responsible risk management. As a Senior Manager, Portfolio Management - Collections, you'll lead the strategic management and optimization of CIBC's secured and unsecured collections portfolios. Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management - Collections, you'll own portfolio performance, establish portfolio strategies, and lead performance management frameworks that improve delinquency performance, customer outcomes, and recoveries. You'll provide strategic oversight across the collections lifecycle by using analytics, technology, governance, and continuous improvement practices to drive operational excellence. You'll also partner across teams to identify opportunities, strengthen decision-making, and advance portfolio optimization initiatives across the enterprise.

How you'll succeed
  • Drive portfolio strategy - Own the strategic performance of secured and unsecured collections portfolios by setting objectives, defining performance thresholds, and implementing optimization strategies that improve business outcomes.
  • Enhance collections strategies - Design and continuously improve strategies across the collections lifecycle, including segmentation, treatment strategies, recoveries optimization, and customer engagement initiatives.
  • Strengthen governance and reporting - Lead monthly portfolio performance reviews, oversee key performance indicator governance and threshold monitoring, and develop executive reporting that supports informed decision-making.
  • Lead cross-functional execution - Partner with Operations, Risk, Finance, Product, Technology, Compliance, and Analytics teams to advance portfolio optimization and operational transformation initiatives.
  • Develop talent and accountability - Lead, coach, and support Portfolio Managers while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Champion innovation and improvement - Sponsor innovation through champion/challenger testing and test-and-learn approaches, while leading remediation activities to address portfolio performance issues.


Who you are
  • You bring deep portfolio management experience. You have 8+ years of progressive experience in collections, portfolio management, consumer lending, or credit risk. You also have a strong understanding of secured and unsecured collections strategies, recoveries, and portfolio optimization.
  • You're a strategic leader. You have a strong track record of leading portfolio performance initiatives through analytics, governance, and disciplined strategy execution.
  • You're highly analytical. You use data to identify trends, solve complex problems, and guide strategic decisions. Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), Statistical Analysis System (SAS), Power BI, or advanced analytics is an asset.
  • You're an effective communicator. You can translate complex portfolio insights into clear recommendations and influence senior leaders through thoughtful, data-driven communication.
