Job Summary:

We are seeking a strategic Sr. Legal Counsel, Litigation & Internal Investigations to lead internal investigations, support litigation, oversees e-discovery, and handle government inquiries, collaborating across Legal, Compliance, HR, Internal Audit, Information Security, and business teams. Strong experience in sensitive investigations, regulatory matters, commercial disputes, document preservation, export controls, and government enforcement is highly valued. Candidates with mixed government, law firm, and/or in-house backgrounds are preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Internal Investigations: Lead and support investigations into compliance, ethics, misconduct, fraud, conflicts of interest, export controls, anti-corruption, and related issues; develop strategies, conduct interviews, assess evidence, prepare findings, advise on outcomes and remediation, and coordinate with internal teams and outside counsel; help refine investigation protocols.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee commercial, employment, regulatory, and other civil disputes; manage outside counsel for quality and cost-effectiveness; support case strategy, discovery, motions, trial prep, and witness/deposition preparation; evaluate risk and advise business leaders.
  • Government & Regulatory Matters: Respond to subpoenas, CIDs, inquiries, and investigations; coordinate fact-gathering and document collection; liaise with federal, state, and international agencies alongside internal stakeholders and counsel.
  • E-Discovery & Information Governance: Manage litigation holds and preservation; oversee collection, review, production, privilege review, and vendors; partner with IT on data handling; advise on hold and records obligations; improve related legal operations.
  • Strategic Counseling: Deliver practical legal advice; identify risks and mitigation strategies; support training on investigations, litigation readiness, preservation, and compliance; contribute to department policies and best practices.


Qualifications:

Required
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar, CA preferred.
• 8 plus years of relevant legal experience.
• Significant experience conducting investigations and managing litigation matters.
• Experience taking or preparing witnesses for interviews and depositions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential matters with discretion.
• Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills.

Preferred
• Combination of government and law firm experience.
• Experience with federal or state enforcement agencies, U.S. Attorney's Offices, DOJ, SEC, BIS, OEE, OFAC, or similar regulatory bodies.
• Experience conducting corporate internal investigations.
• Familiarity with e-discovery platforms, document review workflows, and litigation hold processes.
• Experience responding to subpoenas, government inquiries, and regulatory investigations.
• Experience supporting technology, manufacturing, hardware, semiconductor, export-control, or other highly regulated industries.
• Prior in-house legal experience.

Salary Range

$180,000 - $230,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
