Full Job Description
As the Senior Lean Operations Manager, you will lead all aspects of work driving continuous improvement culture and embedding Lean principles across the IDEXX enterprise. Managing a team of Lean Leaders, you will be responsible for supporting the IDEXX Excellence System, driving process optimization and productivity improvements.

The ideal candidate brings management experience, possesses robust problem-solving skills and has a proven track record of implementing Lean principles within an operating system to achieve measurable results.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, implements, and sustains Lean transformation strategies aligned with the IDEXX Excellence System.
  • Conducts value stream mapping to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs to track continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates with leadership to prioritize improvement opportunities and allocate resources.
  • Manages staff and/or supervisors of the Lean team within Operational Excellence, planning and assigning work, monitoring activities and evaluating performance.
  • Manages escalated/critical issues.
  • Administers employment actions, provides coaching and guidance to staff and promotes staff training and development.
  • Contributes to development of strategy and direction.
  • May coordinate work of outside vendors and contractors.
  • Communicates with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
  • Provides internal and/or external customer feedback and leads/participates in teams related to new or ongoing project work and other areas as needed.
  • Utilizes data, metrics and system tools to ensure efficiency and to maximize customer experience.
  • Identifies problems, obstacles and opportunities and proactively acts to address issues. Strives for continuous improvement.
  • Prepares reports and other information summarizing work activities and reports results to peer groups as well as senior management.
  • Prepares various analyses as needed to highlight issues and resolve questions.


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Operations or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's degree or equivalent preferred.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • 7+ years of management skills and ability.
  • Proficiency in Lean methodologies and operating system deployment
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities.
  • Experience with ERP systems and process mapping software
  • General business knowledge required, including specific knowledge of businesses supported.
  • Excellent customer service and business relationship-building skills required.
  • Reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues.
  • Project management and change management skills and abilities.
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Extensive sitting, standing and computer use.
  • Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • May be required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Travel required.
  • Some positions may work with exposed moving electro-mechanical parts and may require proper protective equipment


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • General office environment.
  • Normal office noise level, with occasional moderate noise.

  • Provides leadership and direction typically though Managers and potentially Sr Managers. Develops departmental plans, including business and/or organizational priorities.
  • A large, strategically important unit/group/area/function/program with a large market.

  • A moderately-sized unit/group/area/function/program(s) covering a major region.
  • In some instances is responsible for function/program only without subordinate Managers/Supervisors/Staff.
  • Adapts and executes functional or departmental business plans and contributes to the development of functional or departmental strategies. Frequently has multi-country responsibilities. Objectives for assigned unit/area defined by upper management. Latitude to make decisions to achieve defined goals. Failure to achieve objectives will have major impact on unit and the organization.
  • Decisions are guided by Company and functional strategies, priorities and resources.
  • Brings together multiple disciplines and specialties to solve complex problems.
  • Typically 7+ years' Supervisory/Managerial experience, with in-depth experience in the areas managed. Proven leadership skills.
