  • Provide technical support in both the Global Robotics Lab and during on-site ramp-up phases.
  • Collaborate with site process teams to investigate and resolve issues related to GRP equipment.

Organization Overview

As part of Corporate Engineering, the Global Robotics Program (GRP) is responsible for the design, delivery, and oversight of robotic applications across all Lilly manufacturing sites around the globe. This includes testing new technologies, delivering proof of concepts, designing robotic systems, and deploying site robotic systems in partnership with site resources.

Core Responsibilities

The Engineering Technician provides automation and mechanical technical support for Global Robotics equipment. This will be in the form of executing project deliverables as well as supporting robotics equipment in the ramp-up phase at Lilly manufacturing sites. In addition, they provide technical expertise to understand key business drivers in quality, maintenance, safety, and productivity.

Project Delivery Support
  • Operate and test robotics equipment in support of major capital projects.
  • Support major project delivery milestones such as executions during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Support the development of C&Q documentation deliverables to assigned platform ranging from test cases to design documentation and specifications.
  • Be a champion for safety, compliance, and quality best practices when helping to deliver robotic systems to manufacturing sites.

Ramp-Up Support
  • Perform activities in accordance with cGMP's and applicable procedures.
  • Support site training with maintenance and engineering on GRP robotic cells, related technical equipment, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Provide technical mentoring to Lilly site technicians related to the deployment and utilization of robotic technologies, including serving as a Peer Coach to new maintenance technicians at sites.
  • Provide technical support for equipment in the Global Robotics Lab.
  • Work with site process teams to support the investigation and resolution of issues pertaining to GRP equipment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required. Technical associate's degree, or post-secondary education preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Minimum 3 years of front-line GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical design.
  • Strong equipment and process troubleshooting skills working within a site process team.
  • Prior experience working with automation process / control system interfaces to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
  • Prior robotics troubleshooting experience, Fanuc preferred.
  • Experience in Commissioning & Qualification, asset delivery, validation activities, and cGMP regulations.
  • Prior experience using GMARS, coordinating spare parts, issuing work orders, TrackWise 1000, creating job plans, etc.

Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Project),
  • Knowledge in control system programming and integration with PLC, HMI systems such as Rockwell Automation Studio5000, FactoryTalk ViewSE.
  • Knowledge in Fanuc programming, 3DV, Cognex Vision Systems, RFID, instrumentation.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, parenteral, and/or packaging processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and escalate effectively to customers, team members, and other leaders.
  • Proficiency in working cross-functionally to deliver on production tasks that may have aggressive timelines.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$31.37 - $52.28

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
