Full Job Description
Role Overview

As a Senior IT Infrastructure Architect, you will lead the end-to-end design and on-site implementation of a comprehensive technology refresh for veterinary hospital facilities. This role requires a blend of high-level architectural planning, financial accountability, and "boots on the ground" technical leadership. You will be the primary technical authority responsible for modernizing critical clinical environments, ensuring seamless integration between general IT systems and specialized veterinary medical modalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architecture & Deployment Strategy
    • Design robust, scalable on-site architectures tailored for a 24/7 veterinary hospital environment.
    • Develop comprehensive Deployment Plans and Methods of Procedure (MOP) for all supporting personnel to ensure zero-to-minimal clinical disruption during the refresh.
    • Draft detailed Scope Documentation, technical documentation as needed.
    • Develop a conversion schedule and timeline depicting multiple work shifts and resources.
    • Work with teams to provision IP space for future projects
    • Create Support Handoff documentation to outline micro segmentation of networks and VLANs with static name and IP assignments.
    • Preconfigure Meraki and VeloCloud networks per technical documentation.
  • Financial & Resource Accountability
    • Calculate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for all supporting hardware, including server, storage, and networking components.
    • Perform infrastructure sizing and capacity planning to support high-resolution medical imaging and electronic health records (EHR).
  • On-site Leadership & Hypercare
    • Direct on-site support teams during the technology refresh, serving as the lead consultant to drive industry best practices.
    • Lead on-site hypercare activities post-deployment, providing advanced troubleshooting across networking, server, and storage stacks to remediate all outstanding issues.
    • Act as the primary technical liaison for client executives, providing clear status updates and strategic recommendations.
    • Coordinate with low voltage subcontractors to convey cabling requirements and answer any questions they may have during the installation process.
  • Third-Party & Clinical Integration
    • Collaborate with third-party application vendors to integrate connected clinical modalities (e.g., Digital Radiography, PACS, Laboratory Analyzers) into the core architecture.
    • Ensure all vendor-specific requirements for security and connectivity are met within the hospital's network framework.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to travel (50%+) and work weekends as needed (actual conversions may demand long hours)
  • Virtualization Mastery: Extensive, hands-on experience with both vmWare ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
  • Technical Depth: Advanced proficiency in networking (LAN/WAN, VLANs), server infrastructure, and storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
  • Consultancy Mindset: Proven ability to organize and direct technical teams while maintaining a client-centric, authoritative approach to project delivery.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; must be comfortable translating complex technical concepts for executive-level stakeholders.
  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Healthcare Experience: Prior experience working on-site in a human or veterinary healthcare facility is strongly preferred.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Familiarity with medical application workflows and data privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA or equivalent veterinary standards).

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
