RWE Americas seeks a highly motivated and experienced
Sr HSSE Excellence Associate responsible for HSSE contractor management and performance with a strong focus on contractor management, onboarding, and cross-functional integration. This role is responsible for ensuring that contractors, vendors, and suppliers are effectively onboarded and consistently operate in alignment with RWEA's HSSE standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental stewardship expectations.
The position plays a critical role in partnering with multiple stakeholder teams within RWEA to enable safe, efficient, and compliant evaluation, execution, and performance monitoring regarding contracted labor across all phases of work. Additionally, the role contributes to the continuous improvement of HSSE systems by integrating contractor performance, company processes, and organizational learning into broader HSSE strategies.
The individual in this role must possess and demonstrate knowledge, skills, experience, discernment, and interpersonal abilities directly related to [1] the North American energy industry and the continual improvement of HSSE (Health, Safety, Environmental Protection & Physical Security). This individual must be able to review and compare HSSE standards to various documents and programs and demonstrate skills to determine compliance. Applicants must also be proficient in data analytics and analysis methods. Potential team members must be able to use all Microsoft platforms proficiently and be able to utilize or quickly adapt to new programs such as Tableau, Power BI, and Airtable or similar web-based platforms.
The ideal candidate must be a team player with an emphasis on continuous improvement. They must be open-minded to different ways of working and able to discern compliance with both internal and external standards and regulations. The desired individual should have a high level of understanding of industrial settings, preferably power generation facilities. They must be able to recognize personal hazards, be clear in their communication, and confident in their ability and responsibility to Stop Work!
Role Responsibilities:- Manages the process for contractor onboarding through RWE processes that promote continual improvement in HSSE performance at RWE sites
- Leads contractor performance review teams to ensure compliance with contract requirements as well as state and federal requirements
- Able to utilize multiple software products to continuously innovate how RWE executes, monitors, and provides real-time and recurring feedback to RWE stakeholders
- Demonstrates ability to promote RWE HSSE and stakeholder interest through contractor evaluation through structured analysis and onsite reviews with contractors
- Provides assistance and review of contractor-related incidents and Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) reports performed by contractors and provides structured feedback and analysis
- Provide guidance on corrective and preventative actions related to gaps identified as part of HSSE incident reports
- Tracks and ensures that contractor corrective actions are implemented and closed utilizing RWE digital tools
- Provides technical assistance in RWE digital tools including incident reporting, observation, contractor management, and HAZCOM
- Demonstrates ability to discern and identify gaps between contractor programs and applicable regulations and industry standards
- Demonstrates ability to interpret contractor standards and service contracts in comparison to the implementation thereof at RWE sites
- Encourages collaboration among teams to identify trends and recommend improvements
- Provides support to ensure understanding and adherence to program objectives across the organization
- Promotes Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles within the organization
Job Requirements and Experiences: - Associate's or Bachelor's degree or minimum 3 years' experience in an analytical and/or HSSE-related field preferred
- Occupational/Construction Hygiene Safety Technician (OHST/CHST) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP), preferred
- 3+ years of experience in the power generation industry or similar.
- Professional certifications preferred, i.e., CHSO, OHST, ASP, etc.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the field of Occupational Safety and Health or a closely related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in North American energy, manufacturing, military, or similar field
- Understanding of Root Cause Analysis and standard OSHA reporting requirements
- Skills in preparing and presenting concise and accurate information to executive leadership, internal and external customers, stakeholders, etc., across the organization
- Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Protection
- Design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, and Azure preferred
- Demonstrated competency in the HSSE management discipline, particularly with administrative law and consensus standards related to HSSE
- Implementation and management of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Demonstrates strong communication skills and confidence in applying and articulating their knowledge
- Applies internal policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Identifies data inconsistencies and proposes basic process improvements
- Leads root cause discussions for system or reporting errors
- Possesses the ability to recognize and evaluate multiple stakeholder approaches to meeting the minimum intent of internal standards
- Coordinates across teams to resolve documentation, data, and system needs
- Leads small workshops or governance training sessions
- Manages small projects and documentation portfolios independently
- Supports tool configurations and reporting enhancements
- Shows a proactive eagerness for continuous self-development, as well as for advancing the industry and contributing to the growth and success of the company

Work Environment: This position requires both office- and field-based responsibilities, with some travel and visits to RWE Americas offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long periods. The person must be able to climb wind turbines, transition at height (>300'), and work in hot/humid or cold atmospheres. The person must be able to confidently maneuver in and around electrical installations with knowledge and confidence.
