Project Controls Manager

Functional area: Project Management
Remuneration: Exempt

The Project Controls Manager will manage project controls workstreams across multiple assigned projects, ensuring accurate cost, schedule, budget, forecasting, and performance reporting. This role partners with Execution Project Managers, Controllers, Preconstruction, Finance, and other functions to improve process reliability, resolve moderately complex issues, and provide actionable insights that support project delivery.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction, Execution Project Managers, and other functional groups to ensure comprehensive and efficient project control needs are met
  • Coordinate with Execution Project Managers and Controllers to prepare and deliver accurate, realistic, and timely project control reports, including schedule, cost, and budget performance
  • Lead budget management activities such as forecasting, accruals, and weekly financial snapshots, ensuring alignment with project goals
  • Conduct detailed and timely analyses of project performance and variances; review and evaluate contractor invoices and change orders, make informed recommendations, and prepare reports
  • Support Structured Finance with Tax Equity deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
  • Oversee the Purchase Requisition (PR) process in SAP for project-related orders, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and integrity of project expenditure data
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards and trackers with precise data, consistent formulas, formatting, links, and tracking requirements
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of project data and SharePoint document management to facilitate seamless information flow
  • Apply solid end-to-end project controls knowledge to improve process reliability, reporting accuracy, and project decision-making
  • Independently lead review sessions to build alignment, address gaps across departments, and resolve moderately complex issues within the workstream
  • Mentor interns and associates as needed and coordinate work with third-party partners or vendors


Job Requirements and Experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, financial analysis, project management, construction, or a related discipline
  • Renewable energy, construction, SAP, Salesforce, SharePoint, scheduling, forecasting, or financial reporting experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end project controls, including cost, schedule, forecasting, and change management
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills with ability to provide actionable insights
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables while working independently or as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6; familiarity with spend curve forecasting and schedule-driven cost modeling; and exposure to cross-functional estimating workflows involving engineering, procurement, and finance are all preferred, but not required

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $130,000 - $150,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
