Job Summary

Responsible for applying a thorough, advanced level knowledge of financial analysis and knowledge of systems technology to identify and design solutions within Decision Support. Serves as a resource to organization's leaders and facilitates use of financial data. Performs financial functions, conducts statistical and analytical reviews, and prepares financial reports, statements, and gathers information for proformas and presentations. Participates in cross functional teams to assist with financial requirements and to enable adherence to generally acceptable accounting principles.

Job Specific Duties

  • Collaborates effectively with other Decision Support staff where the financial analysis function intersects with other functions such as productivity and financial reporting.
  • Actively seeks, proposes, and implements improvements and efficiencies in the forecasting, operating budget, and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Prepares accurate financial and statistical reports for internal and external use by government agencies, financial institutions, auditors and third-party agencies.
  • Completes complex ad hoc reporting assignments.
  • Participates as the financial team member in strategic projects of the Hospital and System.
  • Leads strategic projects of the financial division.
  • Assists in coordinating the activities and reviewing the work of accounting staff members.
  • Responsible for maintaining expert knowledge in one or more specific areas of healthcare financial accounting.
  • Increases productivity and efficiency within the Finance Division by developing automated procedures, eliminating duplication of effort and coordinating information requirements.


Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business with accounting concentration
  • 4-7 years of accounting or related field experience
  • 4-7 years of budgeting, forecasting, and/or financial planning experience
  • 2-4 years of acute care healthcare experience either within the industry or with industry clientèle


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices including elimination and consolidation, financial statement preparation, etc.
  • Understanding of hospital operations and business functions
  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of financial planning tools
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel
  • Experience with Axiom financial planning, budgeting, and/or forecasting software preferred
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with all levels of staff across the organization
  • Conscientious attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure to manage and meet deadlines
