Sr. Federal Classification Specialist
ROLE
We need an experienced Federal Classification Specialist to support the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA). The EOUSA provides close liaison support between the Department of Justice and the 93 United States Attorneys located throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Marianas Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In this role, you will prepare and evaluate position descriptions, apply OPM classification standards to determine appropriate titles, series, and grades, and provide technical classification advisory services to supervisors and managers across EOUSA and the USAOs. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receive and review information provided by management to prepare position descriptions based on available information sources, e.g., current position descriptions, organization charts, mission, and function statements, supplemented by desk audits and supervisory interviews.
  • Evaluate existing position descriptions using OPM position classification standards, principles, and methodology to determine the appropriate titles, series, grades, and prepare adequate evaluation statements to document findings.
  • Refer all GS-13 and above position descriptions to EOUSA for review before beginning any staffing and recruitment work.
  • Provide technical classification assistance to supervisors and managers on position management and job content options to properly support mission needs.
  • Prepare position descriptions to include completed Optional Form 8 (OF-8), evaluation statement, and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) determination.
  • Evaluate position descriptions using cross-series comparison with related series and by analogy with standards in other occupational groups where no directly applicable standards exist.
  • Resolve technical issues of moderate to average difficulty involving supervisory, nonsupervisory professional leader, administrative, clerical and assistant positions.
  • Ensure all finished work products, including position descriptions and job analysis documents, are delivered as the property of the government.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Federal Government experience writing position descriptions and providing position management advisory services.

LOCATION
  • Remote

CLEARANCE
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier-4 Public Trust background investigation for the duration of the contract.
  • Must be a US Citizen

  • 8 hours per day

  • Salary Range: $89,000 - $119,000 commensurate on experience and location

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. Relocation will not be offered. Individual's primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
