Ideal Skill Set

  • GitHub Copilot: Experience using Copilot to plan and execute package and version migrations-not solely for code generation.
  • Apigee: API proxy experience is a plus, especially for internal candidates familiar with Nationwide's proxy enforcement rules. Strong external candidates can be trained in this area.
  • Technical documentation literacy: Ability to read and interpret technical changelogs, migration guides, and framework release notes, including identifying breaking changes in Angular versions that may affect the team.

Additional Qualifications

  • Self-directed debugging: Troubleshoots and resolves issues in their own code without relying on others as a first resort.
  • Curiosity-driven learning: Learns unfamiliar systems and functionality by tracing code, researching available information, and building understanding from first principles.
  • Legacy code literacy: Comfortable understanding and extending existing codebases. Much of the team's work involves enhancing established systems rather than building entirely new applications.
  • Continuous learning: Motivated to stay current with the tools, frameworks, and development practices the team uses today and adopts in the future.
