To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Blue Origin's Lunar RF Systems group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer. In this role you will work with a hard-working team of RF hardware, antenna, DSP, FPGA, and software engineers to design mixed signal electronics for a range of space-rated communications products. In this role you'll interface with mechanical design, test, systems, integration, and software engineering disciplines throughout the entire product lifecycle from conception to flight ready hardware.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement analog, digital, and power circuits to be used in various RF systems products including software-defined radios, solid-state power amplifiers, and low noise amplifiers.
  • Own the full product lifecycle from concept and design through manufacturing, test, and flight readiness, ensuring quality and performance at every stage.
  • Design, manufacturing, and checkout of custom high-reliability PCBs for various RF Systems applications.
  • Developing efficient power management solutions, such as DC/DC converters, for high-performance, compact, or harsh environments.
  • Perform comprehensive parts stress and worst-case circuit analysis to ensure circuit robustness under extreme conditions.
  • Create and review manufacturing documents, including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures that cover all functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Execute test procedures in a laboratory setting to verify that boards meet all specified requirements and perform root-cause analysis on discrepancies.
  • Coordinate across multiple disciplines, including thermal and mechanical analyses and radiation testing.
  • Work closely with our Technical Program Management team for parts selection and procurement, vendor selection, and schedule updates.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with 8+ years of experience or Master's degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Experience developing high-speed mixed-signal circuits, encompassing part selection, analysis, simulation, laboratory testing, and troubleshooting preferably for aerospace applications.
  • Experience with circuit design, analysis, and PCB layout for high-speed ADCs, DACs, PLLs, DDRs, NAND/NOR flash memory, and FPGAs
  • Knowledge of signal and power integrity, grounding topologies and general PCB layout principles and best practices for high-speed digital applications.
  • Experience doing Worst-case analysis, circuit Finite Element Analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Experience with signal and power integrity simulation and analysis tools such as Hyperlynx or Ansys SIWave
  • Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems combining hardware, firmware, and software
  • Experience with schematic-capture and PCB layout for high density, complex PCBs using Altium Designer (preferable).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possessing a Master of Science or equivalent experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Experience developing and implementing RF circuits for space-rated communications products
  • Familiarity with EEE-INST-002 parts classification, selection of radiation-hardness-assured components, and radiation-mitigation strategies
  • Experience leading multi-functional teams for up-screening and qualification of automotive-grade parts for use in space environments
  • Proficiency with scripting; programming and analysis/modeling tools: Python / MATLAB / Simulink / SPICE (or similar)
